Wayne Alan Hahne, 83, of Houston Texas, passed away December 2, 2013. Dearly loved by family and friends for his wonderful and kind spirit; everyone who came across his path was a better person for knowing him. He was born in St. Louis, MO on November 14, 1930 to Clifford and Esther Hahne who preceded him in death along with his brother Kenneth Neil and beloved daughter Cheryl Hahne Nelson. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sarah Bishop Hahne: son, Clifford Alan Hahne and wife Karyn Elise of Colleyville, TX; son-in-law Jesse "Buddy" Nelson of Sugar Land, TX; grandchildren, Claire Elise Nelson, Elyse Amanda Hahne, Amy Lynn Nelson, Cynthia Ann Hahne and Wayne Christopher Hahne, who all adored him.
A graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla, he earned his BSME degree which was followed by a 2 year service in the United States Army. After a successful career which began at General Motors, he retired from Texas PetroChemicals in 1998. He was a devoted member of South Main Baptist Church and the Maverick Sunday School class.
Visitation with the family was 10:00am Thursday, December 5, 2013 followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30am - South Main Baptist Church (Pasadena) located at 4300 E Sam Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena, TX 77508. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to CanCare, an organization committed to fighting cancer with hope, at cancare.org or mailed to 9575 Katy Freeway, Suite 428, Houston, TX 77024. A few years ago I saw an interview with Reba McEntire who was speaking on the topic of soulmates. She made a point to say that her stepson was who she considered her soulmate and that a soulmate doesn't have to be a "lover-type" of partner, but a kindred spirit who understands you for exactly who you truly are and vice-versa.
I lost my soulmate early this week; the person who knew me better than I knew myself. The man who I measure every person up against and who spoiled me rotten with his unconditional support. The kindest, most loving and giving man the world has ever known. He was my best friend and everyone who knew him was better for it.
Love, tears and kisses to the most amazing person and Grandfather, my sweet Popsie.
Thank you to everyone for the sweet messages and memories.

Words can not express our deepest sympathies. Wayne first enlightened me with his special brand of humor as a young college team mate of Clifford's and although over the many years since my only regret is not having enough time to laugh and joke with him. A true gentle soul who leaves this world better for having touched as many lives as he did. He will be truly missed. Regretfully we will be unable to attend but know our thoughts and prayers are with all of you on this saddest of occasions. All our love!

Many people knew my grandfather as Wayne but family knows him as Popsie. He was such a wonderful, kind-hearted man who deeply cared about each person that he crossed paths with. My sweet Popsie, you are without pain, you were an awesome grandfather! Missing you each day yet knowing you are in heaven!
