William Gailey Obituary

William "Bill" Leander Gailey, Jr. passed away on July 4, 2015 in Harwood, Texas at the age of 88. He was born in Sherman, Texas on October 3, 1926 to William and Lela Gailey. Bill was the grandson of Texas settlers. He served his country in the United States Army, and was a World War II Veteran. Bill married Joyce Laverne Carr on March 1, 1947. They were long time residents of Deer Park, Texas where Bill was a founding member of the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department and also served his community as a little league baseball coach. Bill worked in the chemical industry for Shell Chemical for 38 years. He loved his family unconditionally, and will be deeply missed. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Leander Gailey, Sr. and Lela Leta Sprouse; his loving wife, Joyce Gailey; son, David Gailey; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. He is survived by his son Robert Leon Gailey and wife Sandra; grandchildren, William Barrett and wife Kandy, David Chad and wife Amber, and Robert Lewis Gailey; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Leonard Gailey and wife Beth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family received friends for visitation at Pasadena Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. A graveside service was held at 3:00 pm in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
