Daniel Cholewinski Obituary
Darboy
Age 63, died unexpectedly on November 26, 2014 at Fox River Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side. He was born on April 28, 1951 in Oshkosh, son of the late William and Stella (Dlugolenski) Cholewinski. On June 1, 1996 Dan was united in marriage to Diana Holmes (Malinski). The couple lived in Darboy their entire married life. Dan and Diana enjoyed traveling. Dan loved tennis; He coached baseball and basketball at Oshkosh West High School. He also enjoyed reading, politics, and landscaping; his lawn was his pride and joy. Dan was a graduate of UW-Oshkosh. He taught social studies at Crivitz High School as well as Oshkosh West High School. He was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Parish where he served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and catechist.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Diana; a step-daughter, Tasha (Dan) Stindt, Green Bay; grandchildren: Tiana and Ty Stindt; two sisters: Susan (Patrick) Costello, Green Bay and Sr. Elise Cholewinski, OSF, Appleton. He is further survived by special nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH @ HOLY NAME CHURCH, 620 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly with Fr. Bob Kollath celebrating. Friends will be received at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive in Kaukauna on Monday from 4-7 PM where a parish prayer service will conclude the evening and again on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the mass.
Special thanks to the staff at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee as well as Dr. Brescia, Oshkosh and his staff for their care, concern, and compassion.

Dan was my cooperating teacher when I did my student teaching at Oshkosh West, he was an awesome teacher, intellectual and all around gentleman. Had many a laugh, a few beers and countless discussions together. I coached freshman baseball with him at Oshkosh West and we won a conference championship. I will never forget how those young men on that team looked up to him and played their hearts out for them. You will be missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends.

Diana, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband Daniel. I never knew him, but he was a second cousin. I accidently discovered this notice on ancestry.com. yesterday. Our family was never close to the Cholewinski side, but I have wanted to be all my life. I started my life at Grandma Clara Cholewinski's home on Algoma St., I think that's the name. We lived right around the corner from Dan's parent's house. I even spoke Polish until I went to kindergarten. Would you please contact me at 406-543-7723, or write me at 1813 S. Mr. Cholewinski was a very kind soul, always managed to light up the classroom and put a smile on everyone's faces. Very sad to hear of his passing, I'll always remember him and the way he taught his class, giving any subject a little warmth and encouragement, as well as humor. Rest in peace, Mr. Cholewinski.

Diana and family, We have never formally met but Dan and his mother ,father and sisters were neighbors of mine during my childhood! They lived 2 houses from ours! In later years when I would run into Dan it was always so nice to talk about the ole neighborhood and just catch up! I want to extend my sincere sympathy to all of you including his sisters! With this candle I would like to remember and celebrate Mr. C. He made one great teacher. He always took the time to listen to his students. He would always treat and speak to us as humans, not rebelious teens. I believe that also helps to support why he is so respected and loved. Mr. C. was also probably about the only class you would see habitual "skippers" take a seat. He sincerely cared about every one of his students, which is really what made him so unique.

Dan was many things to me: Colleague, mentor, friend. I will always cherish the many lunches I had with him talking about teaching, arguing about politics, telling jokes, discussing religion, venting about or celebrating our favorite teams and complaining about our least favorite inanimate objects. He has had such a positive impact on me as a teacher and a person. I will always remember and forever miss him. All of you that knew him, you have my condolences.

Mr. C was able to nuture and build trust with his students and led by example. I will hold his family in my thoughts and prayers and hope they know he did positively impact the lives of many students.
