Michael Bond Obituary

Bond, Michael G. "Fuzzy"

Michael G. "Fuzzy" Bond, age 48, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He was born on April 18, 1966 in Joplin, Missouri, the son of Julie and Sharon Bond. Michael graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS in Education in 1989 and MS in Education in 1991 and along the way met people who became his closest lifelong friends. He was united in marriage on June 24, 1995 to Michelle "Shelly" Michalski in Festus, Missouri; their marriage was blessed with two beautiful children. Mike was a middle school and high school instructor of Technology Education in Missouri for 12 years and upon moving to Wisconsin was a high school instructor of Technology Education for Appleton School District for another 12 years. He enjoyed every minute of teaching and interacting with his students.

Mike was a family man who enjoyed going to his children's activities, fishing with his dad and working in the yard. He was a handyman who excelled at carpentry. Mike truly enjoyed watching football with friends and proudly rocked a black belt in Tae Kwon Do one month before he was diagnosed with the cancer that eventually took his life and our hearts.

Mike Bond was a man of honor, loyalty and integrity. He was famous for the forlorn 'Awwwwww' that he moaned whenever his revered Mizzou Tigers or Kansas City Chiefs made a mistake. Mike never hurt or judged and he always forgave. He dedicated his life to his family and marriage to Shelly Michalski. He leaves behind a devastated family and a devoted group of friends who know that the world was not so rich that it could afford the loss of our beloved 'Foo'.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 19 years Shelly, two children: Sophia Miranda and Martin John Bond, his father, Julie Bond of Bolivar, MO; two beloved corgis: Jacks and Murray Bond; grandmother, Julia Bond of Frontenac, KS; parents-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Michalski of Beach Park, IL, brother-in-law, Michael Michalski of Brown Deer, WI; and is further survived by many amazing friends who enriched his life beyond measure. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Bond.

Services will be on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. with Reverend April Kain-Breese officiating. Visitation will occur from 11:00 am until the 1:00 PM service. A memorial is being established for their children's college fund.

I met Mike as a freshman at Mizzou in 1985. He and I were both big KC Royals and Chiefs fans, and of course Tigers fans. We shared many good times during that period of my life. I had the good fortune of introducing Mike and Shelly, and am glad they shared many good years together. I am sorry that I was unable to see Mike very often in recent years, but still cherish the many good memories of the times we were able to share. Shelly and family are in my prayers.

It's hard to find something say. I know Fuzzy wouldn't want us to be moping about because of him but you can't deny he will be missed and he has clearly made his mark on this world.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Bond. He was an amazing man and a remarkable teacher. He had a genuine passion for his students - including our son, Will. And, his teaching went well beyond the classroom. He took such pride in preparing his students for life after school. We are so grateful for the time Will had with Mr. Bond. His lessons will remain with our son forever. I had a wonderful conversation with Mr. Bond during this year's Appleton North open house. He was so happy to be back at work, and talked openly about his health battles. What a strong, courageous man he was! Our deepest sympathies and condolences to Mr. Bond's family. He was a great man. The phrase - "Okay, folks" - will forever bring a smile to our collective faces. Thank you, Mr. Bond.

Teachers are a gift, they just know how to touch our hearts!
The thoughts and prayers of many are with you at this time of sorrow. May God give the Bond family, "the power beyond what is normal", so that you can endure each day.

Fuzzy made us feel like family, from the first time we met him. He was deeply loved and will be missed. Taken from his family far too soon.

I will always remember Mr. Bond as one of my favorite and most memorable educators ever. His kindheartedness and his great ability to imbue his in-depth and professional teachings into his students is what I believe made him stand out as someone truly special. He has left me and many others who shared him as a teacher with his ever-popular distinctive and unforgettable, yet tried-and-true quote: "Technology's always changing, folks." I had him for my I.T. engine classes during my freshman year all the way to my electronics/robotics and computer classes in my senior year in high school. My only regret is that I couldn't have had him with us up into college as well. He will be greatly missed by all, and will always serve to me and no doubt many others as one of the best role-models to follow by.

By far of my favorite teachers I've ever had. He was so selfless always putting others before himself, may God bless him and his family. I am so sorry for your loss
