Michael Jabaut Obituary

Michael A. Jabaut

May 23, 1948 - February 14, 2025

QUEENSBURY - Michael A. Jabaut, 76, a resident of Queensbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Albany Medical Center Hospital following a short illness.

He was born on May 23, 1948 in Plattsburgh and was the son of the late James and Fabiola (Ibarra) Jabaut.

Michael was a graduate of Queensbury High School and Potsdam University. He received his Masters Degree from Albany State in Social Work Administration.

Prior to his retirement he was the Deputy Commissioner for Warren County Department of Social Services.

He was intelligent and well learned, Michael, was an avid reader and a forever student. He always had his nose in a book and studied up on a variety of topics including favorites such as poetry, archaeology and theology. He loved music and played the clarinet for many years in the Lake George Community Band. He also loved to cook whether it be an old favorite or a new recipe. He was a man who seemed to know someone wherever he went. He always had a story, some knowledge or a book recommendation to share. He was kind and goofy, quick witted and so generous. Above all else, Michael was a true family man who did everything he could do for those he loved. He was a devoted son, who dedicated years of his life to caring for his parents, a loving brother and uncle and an extraordinary father who did everything he could for his two children.

Survivors include his two children, Jason Jabaut and Jennifer Jabaut, both of Queensbury; his three brothers, Thomas Jabaut of Lake George, David Jabaut of Plattsburgh, Steven Jabaut of Lake George; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Aviation Rd, Queensbury.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours scheduled.

I met Mike when we were young and been friends for nearly 60 years. His wit was infectious and mischief may have been his middle name. A caring family man that will be missed by everyone he touched. Thoughts and prayers to Mike's family. He truly was one of a kind.

Mike was first and foremost a very dear friend. Our friendship goes back over 50 years and is something I shall always treasure. I remember Mike as a wonderful friend, the best father ever, a devoted son and a man with constant curiosity and uncompromising integrity. One of my friends referred to Mike as a true gentleman.

Those of us who had the privilege of sharing youthful indiscretions will also remember Mike for his wonderful sense of humour and his ability to get into mischief without any encouragement. He truly was one of a kind and the world is just a little more boring without him in it.

I extend my condolences to Mike´s family. He shall be missed, and I am the better for knowing him and having him as a friend

I met Mike through my friend Jerry Pleskach at Potsdam. Mike was a great guy (we sometimes called him Stubs). He was happy guy. He was, I would say, very mischievous. His good actions carry on for me today. I was also friends with Tom and Dave. What a beautiful family. God Bless you all. Love, Joe Galea

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my good friend Michael (affectionately known as Stub). We went to high school together and enjoyed many good times together thru the years. He was a good friend and someone you could always count on. I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace my fellow Muggly.
