Gerry was my best friend in high school. We both were married secretly in high school and our husbands joined the Air Force together. When they returned from basic training, she went to Alaska and I went to Montana.
I planned to drive from Delaware to see her this month but that was not to be. We talked on the phone for about half an hour after she was diagnosed. I will always be grateful for that. We laughed and joked about silly stuff.
She will always be in my heart. Now she is with Buck forever.
