The couple made their home in Des Moines, IA where James worked at Globe Hoist as a machinist and also studied part-time at Drake University.

James moved to Waterloo, IA in 1959 when he was employed at John Deere Tractor Works writing technical manuals for the "new generation of power tractors." In 1974, James was promoted to the position of technical editor in service publications at Deere & Co. headquarters in Moline, IL and moved to East Moline. James attended First Presbyterian Church of East Moline. James and Helen enjoyed square dancing, and they were members of the Acey Duceys and also managed the Square Dance and Round Dance Hall in Bettendorf, IA.

James retired from Deere in November 1984. He and Helen celebrated 66 years of marriage in September 2010. James cared for Helen at home until her death on February 4, 2011. In 2013, James participated in an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. James found friendship with Beverly Murdock for several years. In February, 2020, James moved to Huntington Station, NY to live with his daughter.

Yesterday

The loss of a parent is painful, no matter their age. The family of Beverly Murdock would like to express our sincere condolences. Ruth, our hearts go out to you.

We have fun memories of Mom & Jim, and then Jim, attending our family get togethers and big events.

This picture of myself and Jim was taken in September 2019 at Beverly´s grandson´s wedding reception. Sadly, our mom had passed in 2016.

Love in Christ,
Lisa Murdock
