He was the widower of Dolores “Dolly” (Bothers) Binner, who died Jan. 20, 1993.
He was a son of the late Harvey S. and Mabel (Hollenbach) Binner.
Born June 24, 1929, in Upper Tulpehocken Township and schooled in Strausstown, he lived most of his working life in Leesport.
He established Art Binner Appliances, Leesport, in 1961, and became entrenched as the “local appliance guy.” Local residents became familiar with him not only for his good business sense, but also for his philanthropic endeavors.
He served for 25 years as a deacon at Trinity United Church of Christ, Leesport.
He was a devoted member of Vaux Masonic Lodge 406, Hamburg, and vice president of the Central Berks Lions Club.
Surviving are a son, Bradley Arthur Binner, Leesport; a daughter, Tanya Lisa (Binner) Lanzilotti, Berwyn, Chester County; much-loved daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Lori Binner and Richard Lanzilotti; and beloved grandchildren: Anika Binner and Elizabeth and Richard Lanzilotti II.
Other survivors include four brothers: Walter and Richard, both of Ephrata; Carl, Hamburg; and Joseph, Bernville; and two sisters, Edna, wife of Melvin Burkhart, New Holland; and Jean, wife of Stanley Haag, Leesport.
He was predeceased by three brothers: Raymond, Merlin and Robert; and four sisters: Helen Binner, Mary Heffner, Earlene Wisser and Fern Wisser.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ, Leesport. Burial will be in Leesport Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church. Services by Vaux Masonic Lodge 406 will be at 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Central Berks Lions Club Sight for Blind, 2207 Main St., P.O. Box 302, Centerport, PA 19516, or Berks Visiting Nurse Association, c/o Hospice, 1170 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg, in charge of arrangements.
