Peggy Strunk Obituary

Peggy J. Strunk, 79, formerly of Reinholds, entered into rest on Monday, July 30, 2007, in Ephrata Manor, following a brief illness.

Peggy’s husband, Harold G.M. Strunk, passed away Aug. 31, 2005.

Born in Reinholds, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Ella Reider (Hershey) Markel.

She retired after working as a clerk in the Reinholds and Ephrata post offices.

She was a member of Swamp Christian Fellowship, where she served on the altar guild.

In the 1940s, Peggy was a professional dancer with the Holiday Dancers of Reading, performing with the USO.

She enjoyed knitting.

Surviving are three children: Catherine L., wife of James H. Hauck, Reinholds; Gregory C., husband of Kathy L. (Lorah) Strunk, Denver, Lancaster County; and Harold G.M. II, husband of Kathryn A. (D’Lauro) Strunk, Columbus, Ohio.

Other survivors include six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Anthony Strunk, and a brother, William Markel.

Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. with a viewing from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Roseboro Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, with the Rev. Bradley J. Haws officiating. Burial will be in Swamp Cemetery, Reinholds.
