I was first introduced to Jay right after my husband and I were married over 30 years ago, as Jay was my husbands insurance agent. Jay was also my husbands parents agent too so we have had a long relationship as a State Farm Ageny as well as a man who always had a kind word or would raze us about the Pittsburgh Steelers, as he knew we were huge fans. When Jay retired it was hard to step into his shoes of excellent customer service and genuine concern for his clients. We will be praying for your loss.

Long before meeting him in person, I heard the word "gentleman" used in conjunction with Jay Reid. Those of us privileged to know him are better for the experience and our lives enriched. Jay epitomized honor & integrity & family values.

Jay was my parents' insurance agent, and mine as well from the time I was old enough to drive. He was always available, kind, knowledgeable and honest. I am sorry to hear of his passing. Our community is poorer without him.

Shedding tears for one's landlord is not common, but Jay Reid was not the common landlord for UNR students Tod Bedrosian and Terry Oliver. Forty years ago we occupied the bedrooms above the State Farm office of Jay and Clark Tinsley across from Shoppers Square. The humor, advice and warmth from both Clark and Jay filled, what we laughingly called the "penthouse." Other than eating our dinners on their desks, we were good tenants. Jay was my insurance agent until his retirement. He was always competent and caring. Even if I had not spoken to Jay for some time, the banter and friendliness from Jay made it seem as if we saw each other every day. Jay Reid will be missed--a fine man and a life well lived.
