A life well lived certainly describes Karen. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant as well as a phlebotomist; she worked for many years in the Fallon Hospital making many, many friends. She also was involved in pet therapy; taking her dog Shelby to the hospital and nursing homes to provide the therapy of just petting a dog that comforted so many people. Karen brought Shelby to participate in many of the annual parades in Virginia City where Pet Therapy owners decorated their dogs — This fun event provided good exposure to the pet therapy program.

Her home was always a welcoming place for family and friends. She was always there for her family; her beloved grandchildren & her many nieces and nephews. She made the best deviled eggs, great pies and was a very good cook.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday June 23rd at St. John's Presbyterian Church — 1070 West Plumb Lane in Reno, Nevada. The service starts at 1 p.m. with a light reception following in the church social hall.

I am saddened to have just found this out on the internet.... Karen was related to us by her marriage to Bob, a first cousin of my mother's (their mothers were sisters) She was warm, loving, and generous with her time, and her home. I was blessed to have spent time over the years, in her/their home, bringing my mother to visit. I want to say to her children how sorry I am for their loss, and in such an unexpected way.... My pup Allie and I volunteered with Karen and Shelby at the Fallon library and the Fernley library. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. I know the many therapy dog teams she worked with will miss her, and Shelby, dearly. My condolences to her family during this sad time.

May the God of all comfort continue to give the family the strength you need to cope during this hard time. May you continue to cherish the memories that you shared with her and be surrounded with peace and love. May you find solace in the words found at Isaiah 61:1:1,2.
