I have been a family friend of the Mireles family since I was in Kinder with his little sister "EKE". I will always remember Joe as a funny, and always joking around person. I will never forget the times when he would drop us off at school laughed and honked and honked as he drove off. My prayers are with the family. You will be greatly missed. May you rest in peace.

As a fellow Screaming Eagle in Vietnam, I have taken the liberty of forwarding Mr. Mireles' obituary to Static Line, the Airborne newspaper, where a notice will be published in the TAPS column so that his fellow paratroopers will know of his passing.

Jose P. ( Jo Jo ) Mireles lll

January 26, 2008

My Father was a United States Army Paratrooper of the 101st Division they called themselves this Division the Screaming Eagles. And he was always very proud of that as too all of his family. All the stories that he would tell me as a kid. I was amazed, from basic training to jumping out of Planes and Helicopters in Vietnam. Can you imagine they make movies about those times know days, He would show me all his battle scars from when he got wounded in Vietnam and explained to me where each and every one came from and what he had to do to make it out of the jungle alive. He went in to the service with only one metal in his pocket a picture of his newborn son and came out with a jacket full of them just trying to get back home to me. I was amazed then but now I realize all the strength and character he was building was for a reason, he was creating his legacy that everyone would remember and be proud of for the rest of their lives. I will always hold my head up high and pursue my personal goals with same character and strength he would be proud of. I will always remind my children his grandchildren what an awesome Grandpa they have. I love you Dad, Jose Pantalion Alvarado Rodriquez Mireles lll
