Richard Pickert Obituary
He was an Eagle Scout who loved all things culinary, was a Volkswagen enthusiast, loved the coast of Maine, and enjoyed refinishing old wooden boats. Shawn had a passion for learning and teaching others how to fix and build things. He appreciated the simple things in life and was nostalgic of the 1980's. Shawn was a compassionate and caring person with a high tolerance for what life threw at him.
He was preceded in death by his mother Cathy Ellenberger. He is survived by his father Roger Ellenberger and step-mother Cheri Ellenberger of Kennebunk, Maine; his father Rick Pickert of N.Y.; his sister Millycent Ellenberger of Seattle, Wash.; his step-brother Justin Cooper of Kennebunk, Maine; and step-sister Courtney Cooper of New York, N.Y.
SERVICES: A ceremony will take place in 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Landing School of Boat Building and Design (www.landingschool.edu/give).

Though I heard about Shawn´s passing, it is only now, 5 years hence, that I have learned the importance of honoring my memories of Shawn for the family that continues. I knew Shawn from grade school through high school. He was a great friend, andI periodically crossed paths with him in Kport over the years. Interestingly, I lived in Seattle for 2 years- -2001-2003. I wonder if Shawn was there in Seattle when I was there??
I have two strong childhood memories of staying over at Shawn´s house in Lower Village Kennebunk and combing the muddy banks of the Kennebunk River at low tide searching for blue glass bottles. Shawn also stayed over at my house, where we camped out in my backyard.
I feel that Shawn directly influenced me to be the best person possible and that his kindness and goodness touched me deeply. I am so saddened and now, 5 years later, think of my friend Shawn.
We seemed to lose touch over the years, but we never lost our friendship.
I´ll see you on the other side brother.
