Betty Decter Obituary
March 11, 1925 - December 17, 2017
Betty was born in San Francisco and grew up in the Richmond District, living her adult life in Daly City and Millbrae. She was predeceased by her parents, Max and Jenny Solomon, her siblings and their spouses Marion (Fred) Newman, Ann (Saul) Miller, Sylvia (Roddy) Andrews, Harriet (Jack) Aboudara and David (Vivian) Solomon. She was also predeceased by her husband, Bernard Decter. Betty is survived by her children Barbara Clifford (Francis) and Brad Kearns (Diane), as well as grandchildren Kevin Clifford, Kathryn Knopf (Jordan), Matthew Clifford (Nikki), Kenneth Kearns (Alexandra), Emily Dalske (Dan) and eight great grandchildren that include, the Knopf children -- Connor, Jimmy, Carly; Parker Clifford; the Kearns children -- Brady, Ryan; and the Dalske children -- Kate and Benjamin. She was also survived by her late husband's daughter Darlene Pleger and by numerous nieces and nephews.Betty attended San Francisco schools, Roosevelt Junior High and was a proud graduate and valedictorian of the Lowell High School winter class of 1943. Betty was a successful businesswoman and real estate agent. She served as a Millbrae Planning Commissioner. She had a great many loves and passions, including the 49ers, Giants, Warriors, bowling, blackjack tables and slot machines, horse races, gardening, cruises and traveling the world, crossword puzzles, Joe's of Westlake, playing rummy with the "girls" and most of all, her family. Active in the Lowell Alumni Association, Betty also enjoyed excursions with the Millbrae Lions and the Millbrae Seniors, and passed away of natural causes wearing her 49er sweatshirt after watching the 49er's win!
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the El Rancho Inn, 1100 El Camino Real, Millbrae. Betty leaves quite a legacy and will be long remembered and missed by her friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Millbrae Lions Club in Betty's name. The family would also like to thank Mission Hospice and Remy Timbol for their loving care.
