People could rely on Dan to get the organizational work done, and he did not let them down. He consistently shared his time, talent and resources to make the world around him a little better. He loved his SI classmates from 1983 and the friendships formed so long ago were evident to his very last day. He also participated in the annual Lourdes Pilgrimage with the world wide membership of the Order of Malta. Dan spent his entire career in the financial services industry, most recently as Managing Director, National Sales Manager at Nuveen Investments since 2001. We are saddened and broken hearted that Dan left us so early. We cherish fond memories of him from USF and Lakeside. Dan's love for his family and friends was contagiously inspiring and because of him we will forever be "Irish at Heart".

Dear Diane, Family and friends of Dan.

I had the privilege of working with Dan at St Anne's. As you know, his smile and compassion for the aged was their best medicine. He cared for the sick and was active in their care. His loss is crushing for all of us. Our Lord wanted back one of the good ones when he took Dan so early. Our prayers and love go you you and your wonderful family.

I knew Dan professionally. I remember one time when he was due to speak at our office, and had to share the podium with another speaker. When I noticed that the other speaker had seemingly endless initials following her name (JD, CFA,CFP,CIMA,,,et al) and that my dear friend Dan had none I suddenly realized what was really important in life, and I am so glad I made a point of telling Dan. Of course, Dan proved the better speaker that day, and he smiled that twinkly smile of his when I told him his business card should read "Daniel Linehan, DAD....The most important professional designation a man can have.

Dearest Diane and Family, Even though its been 35 years of time that has passed by,I have very fond memories of "Danny" when we Irish danced at Ann Healy's Dance Studio in SF. Dan always had a smile on his face and he always liked to have a great time even as a youngster. My heart goes out to you and your family during this tragic loss in your lives and I will keep you in my prayers.

When Diane was sick, I remember Dan sleeping at the hospital on a chair half his size, despite living close by. He had an outrageous sense of humor - we all loved Dan.

Dear Diane,
I am absolutely heartsick and stunned to hear about Dan's death. What a beautiful tribute you gave in his obituary. How did he do all that? He and you both have been amazing people together and separately and my heart goes out to you. He was fortunate to have you although the time was cut too short. I am terribly sorry for your loss. He was always such a great guy. I haven't seen you for a very long time but I carry fond memories of you both from times past and many laughs. I send my deepest sympathy and I will keep you, your children, and extended family in my prayers. What a shock this must be. God bless you and your family. With Love, Suzy Porter

Our prayers are with Diane and the children as Dan enters the gate to Heaven. I knew Dan first as member of the Sacred Heart Class of 83' and played against him in football. He was a gentleman and a good sport. He was enthusiastic and loyal to the Wildcats of SI and very proud to be an alumnus. He had a great sense of humor, very personable and had a respect and love of others. May God bless and watch over he and his family.

Dear Diane, Siobhan, Patrick and Molly,
Words are definitely difficult to find when the death of someone like your husband and father dies unexpectedly and far too young. Dan's faith in Christ was exhibited in his love for you and his care for others and his community. The families, staff and this pastor will sincerely miss his presence and kindness that was always visible at Lakeside Presbyterian Center for Children. May the peace and grace of God bring you comfort in the days and years ahead. In His Gracious Name, the Lord of Life, Christ Jesus,

I was Dan's Spanish teacher for two years at SI. He was a most loving, amiable and optomistic young man. I appreciated his friendship and hard work. Above all, he was a young man of Christian faith and love. At this time I ask God's grace and care on Dan's wife and family, knowing that he rests in God's paradise until we all reunite in eternity.

This comes to mind when I think of Danny
"Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there..."

I always remember you Diane, as the "little" Murray from Our Lady of Mercy, and I am so sorry for your loss. My brother Sean told me many wonderful stories about Dan, his kindness, and of the joy he brought to others. Sean also spoke of Dan's love of his family and his God.

May that God now wrap his loving arms around you and your children, and may your memories of Dan bring you comfort.

Please know that the whole city of St. Francis is weeping with you and for you.

Godspeed Dan...
