I remember Dr. Fye as the most dedicated, honest and skillful doctor I have ever known. My memories are at Ross general hospital where I worked on the floors and had direct contact as a nurse with all of our patients. He will always be remembered. Sincerely, C. Hahm, RN.

I always felt blessed to have Dr. Fye as my physician. I will never forget his 6:00 AM phone calls on the occassions he thought the trip into UCSF would be too taxing for me. We would communicate over the phone discussing the issues at hand;no matter how busy his schedule, he always found a way to find the time for everyone. His amazing knowledge, coupled with his genuine kindness, was such a wonderful blend in which contributed to the very special, unforgettable man that he was and who will forever be remembered by all. God Bless You, Dr. Fye

Dr. Fye diagnosed my RA in 1986. I'll never forget his quick sketches on the exam table paper explaining what was happening, in a exam squeezed between two patients. His empathy towards my husband and me in our grief and worry at this rapid onset of RA (less than 4 weeks) was so caring and hopeful.
I followed him to UCSF and through all the various drug treatments. Kenneth even supported my exploration of all the alternative treatments of warm water therapy, body work, acupuncture, and supplements. If it made me feel better, he was supportive, even as he gave me the facts of blind studies that did not support my usage of these alternate methods. (Some worked, like the water exercise, body work and the acupunture - most supplements did not).
He was a real medical "detective," that will not be surpassed soon, as well as a caring, down-to-earth professional who never "talked down" to his patients.
He told me he was having so much fun in his work that he had to work out an alternative retirement with Marilyn so he could work part-time a bit longer. Thanks to you, Marilyn, we got to have Dr. Fye treat us a while longer, until the onset of his cancer.
We know his memory will be a blessing to you and your family just as much as it is to his patients.

Dr fey was a wonderful physician, who diagnosed my autoimmune condition when no one else could. I'll never forget the day he told me:"remember, none of us are gonna get out of this alive!" he knew I would laugh at that and in hard times I think of him saying this and I smile.

My husband, William Callas and I, Lois will greatly and sadly miss Dr. Fye, whom we faithfully followed as patients from his Greenbrae office from 1983, even making trips from Windsor,CA (Sonoma) to the current UCSF Rheaumatology clinic. Ken gave us direction and hope in helping diagnosing our conditions beyond Arthritis. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family. May his legacy of teaching continue to brighten the lives of other patients, colleagues, etc.
