Robert Stirm Obituary

Robert Stirm, Jr., DDS
February 2, 1959 - January 7, 2023
Walnut Creek - Robert Lewis Stirm, Jr., DDS. It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Robert L Stirm, Jr., DDS, at the age of 63 in Concord, California. It was too soon.
Robert "Bo" L Stirm, Jr, was born in Laredo, Texas, the second of four children, and, as an Air Force brat, was raised in Europe; Foster City, CA; and Tampa, FL. Bo attended San Mateo High, San Mateo, and graduated from Chamberlain High School, Tampa, FL. He played many sports but exceled at football and wrestling winning the 1977 Florida State Wrestling Championship in his weight class. Bo, a Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo graduate, and Georgetown University School of Dentistry graduate, settled in Walnut Creek and started his own dental practice of 35 years in Concord.
A fiercely loving father of Nicholas, Ryan (Ariel), and Sommer; grandfather of Phoenix; devoted son of Robert L. Stirm, Col, USAF, retired; preceded in death by his beloved son, Cody Hunter Stirm, and by his mother Loretta Faye (nee Mrosko) Adams; brother of Lorrie (Norm) Kitching, Roger (Nevert) Stirm, and Cynthia (Steve) Pierson; uncle to Christopher (Alissa) Clark, Jessica (Nelson) Diaz, and Norman Kitching. Bo was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, cousin, relative, and friend to many who will forever miss his gentle and understanding nature, deep loyalty, and sparkling infectious smile.
Dr. Stirm, a disciple of optimism and attention to detail, had a very special connection with his patients. He fostered a family environment in his practice, caring for his patients and his staff's needs, going that extra mile to ensure everything was perfect.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 12:00pm at the Walnut Creek Civic Center, 1375 Civic Center Drive, Walnut Creek, CA, in the Assembly Hall. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

I knew Robert briefly in grade school. I remember people coming to the school and "comforting" us as they explained what had happened to Robert's father. As a 9 year old, living in America, war was impossible to fathom. Robert, wasn't a typical third grader. He and his sister were so much more mature than the rest of us. They were a bit more educated, a bit more older than their years would indicate. I would say, Robert was an old soul. I don't know what specifically happened but not long after the event, Robert and family moved away, across town. I didn't hear of him until the photo in 1973. Heard he went to San Mateo high from articles, but when Hillsdale wrestled San Mateo high, I didn't see him in the line up. And as we were both in the Mid-Peninsula League, we wrestled a dual meet and championships. All I can say is he was a guy, that was hard to become friends with. He was distant as a kid. Maybe focused, but definitely by design, he was purposeful in what he did. I'm saddened to hear of his passing.

I was only a patient of Dr. Stirm for about three years. However, I felt comfortable the first time I went to him and he performed several procedures on me during that time. He always had his patient´s back and fought my dental insurance diligently for me. He was very kind and generous. His staff reflected his persona and it was obvious they worked very well as a team. I still go to his office, as I like his staff. It´s as if they are sort of carrying on his legacy. He was true champion and is sorely missed.

I am profoundly sad to learn of Dr. Stirm´s passing. He was my one and only dentist while living in Concord for 25 years. We moved away18 months ago and I just learned today of the terrible news. One of the downsides to relocating is having to give up certain things like a terrific dentist. I can´t think of a nicer professional that I have ever had the pleasure of being a patient or customer of. He and the staff took amazing care of me and the kids. There was always some family oriented conversation involved during every visit and I miss that doctor-patient relationship. My deepest sympathy for the family, friends, and staff.
