I was a student at Washington High School whem Ms Schenck was preparing great meals for us. I did not realize it at the time but, in a conversation with her during one of my visits to North Carolina I learned from her just how concerned she was for the students and the hurdles she had to jump over to give us the meals that she felt we needed.

I was also a classmate of one of her children, Johnny, and knew the the others.

I will always have mmories of our conversations at school and the visits to her home later.
