Mark HENDERSON Obituary

HENDERSON, Mark Walter "Hendo" March 6, 1960 April 25, 2021 ` Mark Henderson passed away peacefully on April 25, 2021. He was a business-man, devoted friend and had a love for extreme sports. Mark was born in Spokane, WA. As a young man, he became actively involved in the skydiving community. Mark had well over 2,500 skydive jumps. On many of those jumps he introduced someone new to skydiving. He was quick to always invite someone along with him to experience the adrenaline and peacefulness of skydiving. He loved soccer, dirt bikes, mountain biking, and traveling the world. Mark had no kids, but loved and treated Pool World as his own. He was the active General Business Manager at Pool World where his mother and father (Lyla and Kerry Henderson) started the company. The passion he had to create backyard vacations in the Inland Northwest was unmatched. Mark attended East Valley High School in the Spokane Valley and graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1982 where he studied business and accounting to fulfill the needs at Pool World. To say he was a hard worker would be an understatement. Mark was an amazing mentor and trained others to work hard and live life to the fullest. He was able to train others to help with the business so he could travel more. He took advantage of the extra time and traveled the world with friends including Iceland, Vietnam, Egypt, Hong Kong, Japan, and many other countries. Mark even backpacked through Europe for two weeks with some of his friends. Those adventures and shared experiences not only are memories that will be with him and friends forever, they also changed his life as he saw and learned about new cultures. Through his travels he gained a greater appreciation of the United States. Mark truly lived to give to others. He was a very generous man in all aspects. As a devoted friend and colleague to others, he always strived to do the right thing. He will be missed by all who knew him. Mark is survived by his mother, Lyla Henderson; sister Kariann Albert; and aunt Doris VanWinkel. There will be a celebration of life when circumstances allow.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mark's passing.
In my college years, I worked at Pool World as I earned my B.A. from Eastern Washington.
During these years, Mark was my boss.
I really enjoyed working for Mark--and appreciated getting to know him.
He was passionate about his business and I learned much. What stands out was his integrity in business dealings and that he really wanted folks to have a relaxing time by enjoying hot tubs or pools. Also, he (an owner) cleaned toilets on Saturdays with the rest of us...led by example, a wise businessman. He sponsored our Pool World basketball team with some nice jerseys. He often gave hockey tickets to people--was generous-- and I believe was a Big Brother. He had a huge heart and a great sense of humor.
I will miss Mark...rest in peace Hendo.

Hendo, a true gentleman. This world lost a human that we need more of. I will certainly miss my friend who I met in 1972! I have fond memories of our teenage years together and as business professionals. Your friend always, "Chump"

I was truly heartbroken to hear the tragic news. I met Mark through the skydiving community in the late 80's and we became friends. He mentored me many times during my learning process throughout the years. He was a very kind and generous person. I will miss stopping by his office at pool world to chat. He would always try to convince me to come back and skydive. I offer my deepest condolences to the family. God Bless you all and Rest in Paradise my friend!
