James Parker Obituary

James D. Parker, 70, passed away at the Bailey Center in St. Augustine, FL on January 15, 2019. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio and grew up in Waverly, Ohio. James received his bachelors and master's degree in music from Miami University of Ohio, he was the band director at Geneva Highschool and taught band and choir in the Geneva Elementary schools in Geneva, Ohio. He retired to St. Augustine, Florida in 1993. James was a volunteer at Fort Matanzas and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church. James loved God, his children and grandchildren, playing golf with son Rusty, traveling, cycling, boating, sailing or anything on the water.
He is predeceased by his parents Russel L. and Elva R. Parker. James is survived by his daughter, Suzy (Jeremy) Covell, sons Rusty Parker and Thomas Weber and ex wife MaryAnn Parker.
A memorial service will be held at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine, FL on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to St. Anastasia Catholic Church or the Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida (https://www.grrmf.org).
Craig Funeral Home, Crematory and Memorial Park (www.craigfuneralhome.com) is in charge of arrangements.
