Peter Garris III, 58, St. Augustine, passed away on June 27, 2013, at Flagler Hospital after a brief illness. A native and life-long resident of St. Augustine he graduated from St. Augustine High School, class of 1972. Peter was employed as a bus driver with the St. Johns County School Board. Prior to working as a bus driver, he worked for Tree of Life for 25 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was attending St. Paul A.M.E. Church. He was a member the Elks Lodge No. 649 and the American Legion Post 194. Peter also did work as a D.J. because of his love of music and he loved to be outdoors. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church with Rev. Ronald Stafford, New Mount Moriah Christian Ministry officiating. Minister Andrew Plummer, also of New Mount Moriah Christian Ministry, is the eulogist.

He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Garris Jr., and two sisters, Carolyn Lucas and Lois Garris.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Cynthia Garris; his mother, Gladys Garris, both of St. Augustine; children, Peter Garris IV, St. Augustine, Edward Boyd, Fall River, Mass., George Boyd Wells, Hollywood, Calif., Hazel Boyd, Lynn, Mass.; sisters, Henrietta Evans, Hastings, Terry Garris, St. Augustine; mother-in-law, Hazel Pierce, Newport, R.I.; father-in-law, Sam Boyd (Brenda), Middletown, R.I.; brothers-in-law, Paul Boyd, Middletown, R.I., Anthony Boyd, New Bedford, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Debra Boyd, Beverlee Boyd, both of Newport, R.I., Helen Boyd, Jacksonville, Fla.; aunts, Drucilla Singleton, St. Augustine, Martha Johnson, Hastings; niece, Nicole Lucas; goddaughter, Breaujha Lewis, both of St. Augustine; two grandchildren, Eddie and Cynthia; his beloved dogs, China and Lily; and a host of other family and friends.
