I worked for Mr Carlisle as a legal secretary and it was my pleasure to do so. He was a brilliant attorney, but also a kind gentleman, in every sense of the word. May God Bless both him and his family

To Russ´s family and friends, It was with great sadness to learn of Russ´s passing. As a past president of the Broward Co Bar Association, I reflect on Russ´s many contributions to the legal community, both locally, statewide, and beyond, and how we all looked to him for advice and counsel over the years, which he gave so freely. Russ was the Broward Bar´s local treasure as he continued to inspire us throughout his long and distinguished legal career, including his unfailing commitment to the less fortunate in our society, advancing so many initiatives too numerous to count, all accomplished in his professional and easy going style. Russ´s enduring legacy to the legal profession is a testament to his many qualities, notably his brilliance, professionalism, and humility. He will be missed by all who knew him and those who did not but were the beneficiaries of his life´s work.

To: Russell´s Family,
I was deeply saddened and stunned this morning to learn of Russ´s passing.
Please accept my profound condolences.
I first met Russ in 1969 when he was elected to The Florida Bar Board of Governors. I was elected to the Presidency that year. He came to my office to congratulate me. During those "Bar years", we worked together very closely.
He did so many great things!
Along with Col. Norman Faulkner, they were able to bring the IOTA program to our State with brought with it many of thousands of dollars yearly to help the poor and needy Florida systems. It was called the IOTA program. Many of our other State´s in the Union followed our example and that resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars for the needy of our Land.
Russ, to me, was not only a treasured friend, he was my HERO.

Russell was the first to encourage me to practice law in Fort Laudedale, a decision I´ve never regretted. He was an outstanding lawyer, dedicated to service to our profession and the clients we serve. Rest In Peace, my friend.
