Jason Griffin Obituary

Bedford, N.H. - Jason Christopher Griffin, 42, of Bedford, N.H., passed away peacefully in his sleep Aug. 12, 2024. Jason was born in Shreveport, La., Sept. 26, 1981.

He grew up in Pottstown, Pa., where he attended Owen J. Roberts High School and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in business management.

He leaves behind his loving parents, Charles "Skip" and Rita Griffin of Stonington; his brother and best friend Matthew Griffin; his sister-in-law, who is more like a sister, Cynthia Griffin; and his niece and nephew whom he loved dearly, Haley and Adam Griffin of Wickford, R.I.

Jason was a man of strength and character, a type of strength that few people have and a character that we should all strive for. He overcame adversity and found himself stronger and more resilient than ever. Jason always looked for the good in everyone and was willing and ready to help anyone. He lived by the belief that you don't know what another person is going through, so never be judgmental. Jason lived by the sentiment, "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

Jason, a businessman, started a solar energy company with his co-founder, Josh Marotske, outside of Boston. Brightway Energy is a very successful business and one of the top solar companies in Massachusetts. He was very proud of the company they built. Jason lived an active life in pursuit of many hobbies and community engagement. There wasn't much he couldn't fix or accomplish when he put his mind to it. Jason completed hiking the forty-eight 4,000-foot mountains in New Hampshire, most of which with a wonderful group of hiking friends whom he referred to as his trail family. He was a talented watercolor artist and had a beautiful collection of works.

Jason was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Jason & his coworkers launched their now successful solar business in the coworking space I manage just outside of Boston. Jason was one of my most spirited members, always smiling, energetic, engaging -chatting with other members, and me. He was such a warm, friendly, bright light & and bit of a Fire cracker of a persona. His presence contributed so much life energy to our community. His passing affected me deeply as he was in between the ages of my 2 nephews and possessed so many similar personality traits and interests, and he could even pass as a 3rd brother. Our space has not been the same without him, we all lost a core member and a friend. And my heart lost a little spark, from a special kind of professional friendship, that closed the gap between 2 generations. I/ We all miss you Jason.

I only met Jason early last year when I contacted him about working for his company Brightway Energy. He hired me.

When I was deep into a sales performance rut and floundering, he never quit on me. Anybody else in the area solar industry would have cut me loose.

More than that, Jason was always pleasant with me. I never once saw nor heard him upset nor raise his voice. He personified class, professionalism, dignity and leadership excellence.

Jason and I shared a love of backpacking and art. We never got to go backpacking nor camping, to my regret, but to my joy I got to see his excellent watercolor work.

My parents were artists and art teachers. Surrounded by art and art education my entire life, I learned the difference between fine art and not fine art. I recognized instantly Jason's talent for creating the former.

Regarding the obituary, it was beautifully written.

Of the things I did know about Jason, they were represented precisely in his obituary.

Of the things I didn't know about Jason that are featured in his obituary, I'm glad to know them now.

Thanks for everything Jason. You were special person of which this world can spare few.

On behalf of all of us, members and staff at the Coworking Studio, in Somerville, MA, home to Brightway Energy and 2nd home to Jason, Josh & Marc... all of us send our sincerest, heartfelt condolences to Jason´s family - his parents, his brother & sister-in-law, and his niece & nephew & extended family. He always shared family holiday stories and other stories about adventures you all participated in. It was obvious he loved you all so deeply- with all his heart and soul. We all loved him- his smile lit up our space and our hearts. Our coworking community & the rest of the world lost a bright shining star. He was a man of many hobbies, talents and gifts.. that he generously shared with others...He touched us all and he will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, dear friend.

I worked with Jason awhile back in CT. He always made the day better with his smile. Kind of like he had discovered the secret of the universe and it is GREAT! Whenever he and I worked together to help a customer, he´d give me a hug after a job well done. I think about you all the time Jason! I´m blessed for having known you!
