William Vinton "Putt" Scribner

Quaker Hill - William Vinton "Putt" Scribner, 77, of Quaker Hill, passed away peacefully at home Aug. 23, 2025. Bill was born in New London Nov. 25, 1947. He was the son of Raymond Vinton Scribner and Sophie Scribner. Bill graduated from Waterford High School in 1965 and lived and worked in the Waterford and New London area all of his working years. He worked most of his life in the landscaping business, including Union Cemetery in Quaker Hill where he was a Director for many years. Bill was also a Life member of Quaker Hill Fire Department.

Bill thoroughly enjoyed living on Smith Cove in Quaker Hill where he grew up fishing and boating with friends and family. He had many fond memories of this time of his life and continued boating until just a few years ago.

Bill is survived by his sister Martha Casidy of Colchester; his brother, Guy Scribner of Waterford; a niece, Megan Kahn; two nephews, Dale Casidy and Roland Allen; along with many longtime friends together with his caregiver Donna Thivierge.

There will be a burial at 11 a.m. Aug. 30, 2025, at Union Cemetery, Route 32, Quaker Hill. Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, of Uncasville is in charge of arrangements.
