Indio - Rafael Lopez Romero 65 of Indio, CA passed away on October 6th 2018.

He was born July 13, 1953 to Carlos C. Romero and Maria Luisa Lopez Romero in el Platanal, Michoacan, Mexico.

Rafael graduated from Coachella Valley High School in 1973. He worked for the City of Palm Desert and retired in 1998. He was a handyman, craftsmen and loved gardening.

Rafael met his then high school sweetheart, Eva G. Moreno, and together they had two children. Rafael Jr. and Cynthia.

Rafael is survived by his two children, Rafael (Imelda) Romero and Cynthia(Daniel) Ramos both of Indio, CA. Eight grandchildren, Mariah, Daniel Jr., & Marlisa Ramos, and Julissa Romero all of Indio, CA, Melody Serna and Luis Serna of Palm Desert, CA, Natalie (Christopher) Wisdom and Alexandra Nunez of Indio, CA. He also had 5 great grandchildren. Seven sisters and one brother, Margarita (Rodolfo) Vela of Vista, CA, Miguel (Mike) (Maria) Romero of Thermal, CA. Enriqueta (David) Gamez of Fresno, CA, Jessica Moreno, Lidia (Robert) Jackson, Rosalva (Santiago) Villegas all of Indio, CA, Maria (Edmundo) Mejia of Thermal, CA and Guillermina (Mina) (Alfredo) Romero-Gomez of Cathedral City, CA. Sister-in-law Irene Romero of Thermal, CA. He had 22 nieces and nephews, and 43 great nieces and nephews.

Rafael was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Luisa Lopez Romero in April 1986, his father Carlos C. Romero in September 2002, his sister Estella Romero in April 2009, and brother, Carlos Lopez Romero in June 2009.

Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 P.M. on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Our Lady of Soledad Catholic Church in Coachella, CA. Casillas Funeral Home in Coachella, CA is in charge of arrangements.
