John Carmona Jr.

John Carmona Jr., 89, passed away on March 23, 2025, in Indio, California, surrounded by family & friends.
Born on September 2, 1935, John grew up in the Coachella Valley, attending Westside Elementary in Thermal and later graduating from Coachella Valley High School. A dedicated and hardworking man, he built a long and fulfilling career, working for Carnation Milk and the Press Enterprise for 30 years each, as well as spending 20 years at the Swiss Chalet in Palm Springs. After Retirement, John also worked 10 years at Costco La Quinta, serving his customers with a smile and a treat.
John proudly served in the 11th Airborne and remained an active member of the Coachella Valley Mexican American Airborne community. He was deeply involved in his local parish, attending Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) in Indio. Beyond his professional and military commitments, he found joy in coaching and was passionate about supporting young athletes.
A devoted family man, John is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Carmona; his children, John (Sharon) Carmona and their two sons John Carmona IV(Morgan) and their children Emory & Jesse. Don Carmona(Briana) and their children, Calista & Caius. Son, Jerry (Irene) Carmona, son, Jeff Carmona(Tracy)and their children, Kirstin Carmona and Justin Carmona. Son, Jim (Stella) Carmona and their children, Kristin Rocker(Kevin) and their children, Harrison & Luna & Solomon. Ryan Carmona(Teresa) and their children Liv & Cameron. Jill Carmona and her children, Ashley Porras(Jesse Tejada) and their Children, Samuel & Vincent & Benjamin. Matthew Porras and Desiree Porras(Simon Loredo)and their children Zara & Camila. Jess Carmona and his children, Jessica Carmona and her two daughters, Skyla Mendez &
Sophie Mendez. Sabrina Carmona and her son Nathan Gaxiola. Isabella Carmona.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Euphemia Carmona, and his sister, Margaret Carriere.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Coachella Valley Christian Church, 50100 Jackson St., Coachella, CA. A Catholic Mass will take place at OLPH Indio, 45299 Deglet Noor St., Indio, CA, on Tuesday, April 8, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Coachella Valley Public Cemetery District, 82925 52nd Ave., Coachella, CA, at 12:00 p.m. A gathering to celebrate John's life will be held afterward at 80800 Dorothy Lane, Indio, CA.
John's legacy of hard work and devotion to his family will be cherished by all who him.
