McCOY, 40

LAKELAND - Christopher John McCoy, 40, of Lakeland, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 4.
Born in Warren Ohio, on July 31, 1973, he came to Lakeland from Newton Falls, Ohio in 1987. He was a dedicated and loyal father to his 7 yr. old son, Christian, and loved to spend time with his family. He worked a full time job as a Server at Olive Garden Restaurant in South Lakeland and a part time position as a Payroll Administrator for Cable One LLC.
He graduated with Honors from Mulberry High School in 1991 and received an Academic Merit Scholarship from Polk Community College after graduation. He continued his studies at The University of South Florida, majoring in Business.
Known to his friends as "Chris", he was a tremendous sports fan, especially loving his Ohio State Football Team, Nascar's Driver #48 Jimmie Johnson, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. When you looked at him, you could tell fitness was important to him. He regularly worked out at the LA Fitness gym in South Lakeland.
Christopher is survived by his son, Christian A. McCoy, (who was the love of his life), his parents, Kenneth and Paula McCoy, his beloved sister, Carrie McCoy, and his loving niece, Caitlyn McCoy, all from Lakeland, Florida.
His grandparents, John and Betty Vencel and Elsworth and Helen McCoy, along with his cousin, April Vencel, preceded him in death.
The McCoy family will have a 2 p.m. "Celebration of Life" service for Christopher on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 4450 Harden Blvd. Lakeland, Florida 33813.
In lieu of flowers, contribution can be made in Christopher's honor to: St. Paul's Lutheran School 4450 Harden Blvd., Lakeland, Florida 33813.
Seigler Funeral Home, Mulberry, Florida, will be making the arrangements.
