PHOENIX, AZ. - It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Ann Childress on January 20, 2021, in Phoenix, Arizona. Rita was born on November 3, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. She is survived by her children Kim (Joe), Kelly (Mark), Jeff (Alex), and Jennifer (John); her grandchildren Kari, Kristen, Jessy, Jacob, Jared (Nicole), Sage and Colt; great-grandchildren Joshua, Dylan, Vivienne and Jethro, and her brother Robert Philcox (Orley). Rita was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Childress, her parents Frederick and Ethel Philcox, and her brother Frederick 'Phil' Philcox, Jr.
Rita and Al worked and lived in many different places before finally settling in Winter Haven, Florida. Our family thanks all of you for your love and friendship with Rita and Al, and please know it was reciprocated. Unfortunately, after Al passed, Rita had to leave Winter Haven due to health issues, but her heart always remained there with her friends. Cremation has taken place and a small family service will take place in the near future.

I am shocked to hear of Rita's passing.
Rita was my best friend after the passing of my dear wife Julie.
Rita was always kind and loving.
Another beautiful heart went to Heaven.
Rita will always be in my heart and will be sadly missed.
Rest In Peace Rita.
