EDWARD 'NED' SNIVELY, Jr., 64
VAN NUYS, CA. - Robert Edward 'Ned' Snively, Jr. (A.K.A. Robert Kent), 64, passed away on September 30, 2015, in Van Nuys, California.
Ned was born on October 31, 1950, in Winter Haven Hospital and spent his childhood years in Winter Haven, FL. He was a 1968 graduate of Winter Haven High School and earned his bachelor's degree in 2003 from California State University, Northridge. Before leaving Florida for California in 1973, Ned was active in the local theater and wrote articles for the Winter Haven News Chief. In 2008, he appeared as an extra in the TV show 'Mad Men' on AMC.
Ned was predeceased by his parents Robert Edward 'Bob' Snively and Jean Klay Snively Harman. He is survived by his brothers Jimmy Snively, Jeff Snively, Bruce Snively (Melissa), David Snively (Melissa) and Richard Snively (Miladys). He is also survived by his step-father M.L. 'Pete' Harman, Jr. and step-sisters Lynn Harman Margo (Curtis) and Kaye Harman Stine (Jay), plus several nieces and nephews.
Ned loved living in California, and his wish was to have his ashes spread over the Pacific Ocean. His family members plan to fulfill his wishes in 2016. There will also be a memorial plaque dedication to him at First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven. In lieu of condolences, donations in his honor can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA, 22311.

My favorite memories from Brigham Elementary involved Ned. He wrote me into his Superman stories, and when he read them to our class, with such dramatic flair that I can still picture today, I was secretly thrilled. I'd always imagined that he had moved to Hollywood to be a screenwriter. With his many talents, sweet nature and shy smile - he was one of a kind.

Ned and I went all through school together. He was always kind to everyone. He was my dance partner at Neilie Sloat's studio - we danced the Rhumba in a performance at the old armory. I have wondered about him for so long; he was very talented. It was the highlight of every day in the third grade to hear his original stories that often included classmates. So sad.
