TALLAHASSEE -
Taylor (T.J.) Jeffrey Bowden, 23, of Tallahassee, FL passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 in Winter Haven due to an auto accident.
Born March 14, 1990 in Birmingham, AL he was a longtime resident of Winter Haven. He was a recent graduate of Florida State University and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven. He had the biggest heart in the world and a smile that was contagious. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don and Agnes Corby.
He is survived by his mother, Luann Corby of Winter Haven; his father, George (Cindi) Jeffrey Bowden of Akron, OH; two brothers, Hunter Bowden of Florence, AL and Robert Lescher of Tallahassee, FL; three sisters, Kayla Owens of Winter Haven, Julia Bowden of Akron, OH and Haley (Josh)Byers of Tallahassee, FL; and his paternal grandparents, Bobby and Ann Bowden of Tallahassee, FL.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm till 8:00pm on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Boulevard, Winter Haven, FL. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am, Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven. Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery. Coach Bobby Bowden and Family:
I had the pleasure of meeting TJ a couple of months ago at the Gadsden County Sheriff awards ceremony, he had the most kindness smile and gentle soul, I took a picture of him, which is still in my camera. When I heard of his passing, it was as though I had known him a life time, I remember in your speech, you told us to read the Proverbs and that will help us through life, so continue to read Coach and God will bring you thought. My deepest condolences over your great loss. There is no greater loss than the loss of a child. We have this terrible date in common.....Dec 26th marked 16 years since my beautiful 15 year old daughter,Talia Emslie, was killed in a car crash caused by a speeding driver. My deepest condolences to the Bowden Family. To lose a child at a young age is difficult. My wife Teri and I lost our 18 year old son on March 23 2000 while he was playing softball at Florida State. Bobby was Ryan's hero. My grief experience has encouraged me to use Ryan's memory in a positive way to help others. It sounds like TJ and Ryan had a lot in common. God bless the Bowden Family. I did not know Taylor but I do know what it is like to lose a loved one in a very tragic way very similar. Please know that there are those who do understand your sorrow. There are no words that will make it better but there is a God and if you let him you will find comfort.

Dear Coach Bowden and Ms Ann,
I was the abandoned young married mom with two young sons your wife Ms Ann and you used to sit next to in the balcony at First Baptist Church of Tallahassee in 1986. You brought joy & smiles to my two year old son while bouncing him on your knee. We never forgot your kindness. It didn't matter our social status. We were very poor wearing hand me down clothes. Ms Ann and you loved my two young sons and me just the same. You love your dear Grandson T.J. tremendously as you love all your children, grandchildren, Tallahassee, and treated the Florida State Seminole football players as your very own sons. You taught them how to pray and love one another through God's eyes. My two little boys grew up, both attended FSU, one an FSU graduate same as T.J. One son became a medical doctor in private practice and one a UF MBA graduate employed as financial investment analyst in a major corporation. The sky was the limit in young T.J.'s future with his many talents he offered. The shock and grief is overwhelming; his young life taken too soon.
We send our sincerest condolences to the Coach Jeffrey and Bobby Bowden Families, TJ's Mom Ms. Luann Corby Maternal Family, close friends Robert Edwards, Joe Norris and many other friends of his tragic passing. We thank God that Robert survived the crash. T.J. and his close friend Rafael De Aguiar Valim that passed away with him have joined T.J.'s cousin Bowden and the other Angels in Heaven now and is watching over each of you. Forever hold each other close never letting go for our earthly journey will end someday to join our precious ones in Heaven. Coach, you shall never know the many young lives you have touched, even outside of football, like sitting on that church pew in a little boy's life, when you taught him how to laugh again when his world had been turned up side down. We appreciate the Bowden Family very much.
