BYRON & PEARL BROWN

I coached Debbie and my wife in the Westerly Women Softball League back in the mid seventies. Debbie played second base and it was hard to get a ball past her. She was a smart base runner and a good hitter. A play I will never forget, a ball was hit high over second base behind Debbie. Playing center field was my cousin Debbie Spears. Both girls were running to the ball, I shouted out Debbie, Debbie the rest is history the ball dropped in for a base hit. We won the game so all was forgotton. I also coached the Westerly Hospital Softball team of nurses which Debbie was a member I use to have both teams practice against one enough and that was a mistake. When I called a play both teams said I was favoring the other. After the games and practice we would all meet at the old Roxie's for pizza with much laugher and fun. Rest in peace Debbie your time on mother earth was well spent. Where we are now Debbie was. Where Debbie is now we shall be.

I worked with Debbie at the then Westerly Nursing Home back in the early seventies. Such a sweet girl and so attentive to her patients. My condolences to her family.
