Joseph Crow Obituary

CROW, Joseph Anthony, passed away on February 25, 2023. He was born August 16, 1960, at Langley AFB, Va., and was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Kessler Crow; his father, William Harvey Crow; and his sister, Barbara Crow. He is survived by his brothers, Bill Crow of Mechanicsville, Don Crow (Mil) of Richmond, Mark Crow of Pesaro, Italy; and twin sister, Becky Crow Graser of Tappahannock; as well as his many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Joe attended St. Patrick's Catholic School, Benedictine HS and Armstrong HS. He worked for his brother, Bill's company Newbridge Construction for nearly 40 years. His passions in life were history, especially Richmond's, music and sports. He was a bit of a classic music savant, especially the Beatles and the Stones. Although if any music of that genre were playing, he could tell you the musician, the date, the writer and the story behind it. He was an avid Cowboys fan, even though he came from a family of diehard Steeler fans. It didn't bother Joe; your beer was welcome on gameday just leave the bad mojojoe at the door. Duke Basketball was also a favorite, having attended many a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium when his older brother, Mark played for the Blue Devils. He will undoubtedly be watching March Madness from the heavens and cheering on the team as one of the crazies in the clouds. He loved to cook and his family will forever miss his signature dish of turkey stuffing on the holidays because none of us can replicate the dish no matter how hard we try.

Most of all Joe will be remembered for his love of his family, his friends and his family home the Crow's Nest, where he lived the majority of his life and passed in peace with loved ones by his side.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Affinity Care Hospice team of Richmond and his many friends who went above and beyond in making Joe's final days as special as possible.

A Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church at 213 N. 25th Street in Richmond, Va. on Saturday, March 18 at 10 a.m. and a celebration of Joe's life to follow at the Crow's Nest.

My deepest sympathy to the Crow family . I went to Armstrong HS with Joe back in 1977-78 . He was a good friend . What I remember most about Joe was how he always spoke so fondly of his family . May you find peace and comfort in your memories of your brother Joe . God Bless .

Joe has been along time friend which I consider family. From sleigh riding at CCV, to the James rapids on the rocks to my east end friends picking me up in the west end every weekend and from HS and beyond.. I hope that the friends that we have met along the way will remain in touch because of our friendship with joe

I have Joe to thank for exposing me to his love of music from punk, ska, and classic rock n roll. Loved going to shockoe slip and "dancing". He would just show up w an entourage at ODU. Loved his spontaneity. His heart was as big as he was. Many fond memories. He will be missed.
