A visitation will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mechanicsville UMC, 7356 Atlee Road, with a Celebration of Life following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mechanicsville UMC, RCHC 5101 Cox Road, #225, Glen Allen, Va. 23060 or Elizabeth House 3590 Mountain Road, Glen Allen, Va. 23060. Online condolences may be registered at bennettfuneralhomes.com.

Robert & I grew up on the same street ~his family lived in the same block as my family does. Our families were good neighbors & good friends. The two families often went on picnics at Forest Hill Park as well as other parks. This was in the 1950's. Our family had not gotten a TV yet in the early 50's. The Justis family had a TV & Mrs. Justis would often call my Mom & invite us down to her house for lunch and to watch TV. It was during these lunch-time visits that I first saw the fabulous KATE SMITH singing her rendition of GOD BLESS AMERICA. This would prove to be the beginning of a life-long appreciation of KATE SMITH. I have some awesome memories of times of my family & Robert's family. Robbie was younger than me ~ but we enjoyed many fun-times together. Even after the Justis family moved away ~ our families still kept in touch. I last saw Robbie in 1972 when we had a nice conversation together. Unfortunately, we had lost touch. But I still have wonderful memories of our two families spending happy times together...........MAY GOD BLESS.

My husband and I attended Ferrum College with Rob. He was in our wedding and we loved him so much. I have tried over the years to get in touch with him. I am so sorry to hear this news. My sister-in-law sent us the obituary. Don and I though about Rob often and would have loved to have been in touch. Love to you and your family at this sad time.
