Although we were better acquainted with Janet, than John, I think it´s fair to say that both left a very favorable, positive, and lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing them. The beautifully written obituary allowed us to remember and appreciate their ongoing contributions to the community. Sincere sympathy to their family.

I worked as John's secretary for the Mauch Chunk Museum and Mauch Chunk Ballroom. At ballroom events - past Victorian Balls and annual tea parties, John entertained us all with his wonderful singing and tap dancing! He will be missed. Fondly, Barbara and Dottie Mumma

I met John a few years ago through a mutual friend and he and Conny visited my home and we also we a few times to "Jimmy's" in Hazleton. Last September he attended my 80th birthday party and we all had the pleasure of watching him dance to the music of the "Bee's Knees Band." What a fun time we all had and what a kind and gentle man he was. I wish I had known him longer. I will never forget him. May he rest in peace.

I so appreciated his encouragement and support of local artists and their endeavors. He stopped by several times to see how we were doing. John was so appreciated by all of us in my small art center.

Getting to know John has been one of the highlights of living in Jim Thorpe. He was an inspirational and kindhearted man. Hoping that we can all keep his legacy alive - by sharing the history of Jim Thorpe/Mauch Chunk and striving to always be positive members of our community.

John was quite literally my oldest friend. Even though he was much older than me, his young spirt shined in a way that made me see him as a peer. We shared a love of history, tap dancing, and the Great American Songbook. He gave me my first job working at the Mauch Chunk Museam, and let me use his ballroom to film auditions when I was in town. My New Year's Eve spent tap dancing with him, dancing like an idiot with my dad, and singing showtunes at the piano, was the best New Year's I've ever had. John was a valued member of our small town, and I hope that somewhere in the Mauch Chunk Museam he will be commerated for the outstanding perservation he curated, not only of the town's tangible history, but of its very spirit. I am sorry I will not get to say goodbye in-person, as I'm in China, but please know he will be missed!

Very saddened over John´s passing. Spent a day with him many years ago when doing research about the Switchback for a Times News story. A fine man and irreplaceable community resource. He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of knowing John for almost 30 years and he loved to perform. He loved to sing and he really loved to tap dance. Whenever he did something up in the Ballroom, he would have me bring up my tap shoes and he and I would do some tap jamming together. For Olde Time Christmas, he would be up on the Balcony of the Inn singing Christmas Carols and would encourage locals and tourists to join him on the balcony and sing. The big thing about John is that he was living proof that age is just a number. John is definitely going to sadly missed
