Richard Lisella Obituary

DR. RICHARD SCOTT LISELLA

Richard Scott Lisella, M.D., passed away on Oct. 31, 2024. He was born in 1941 in Lancaster and raised in Summit Hill. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Bertha Scott Lisella, his brother Frank and sister-in-law Lynn, and brother-in-law George Flamm.

Survivors include Theresa "Tad" Drummy Lisella, his wife of 33 years; children Julie Miller (Tim) of Brentwood, Tenn.; Mark of Durham, N.C.; their mother, Virginia Pack Lisella; Cris Zerface of Nashville; Janie Zerface (Jason Robbin) of Kingston Springs and Katherine "Kazzie" Zerface (Ted Crockin) of Larkspur, Calif. Survivors also include sister Audrey Flamm of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; grandchildren Noah and Rowan Hawks, Ethan and Ella Miller, Winnie and Sammie Crockin; nephews Jeff Henderson (Rebecca), Marlton, N.J., and Scott Henderson (Luisa), Chula Vista, Calif.

Richard attended Summit Hill Elementary and Junior High schools, completing high school at Perkiomen School, Pennsburg. He graduated with a B.A. from Colgate University in 1963; he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He received an M.S. (public health) from the University of North Carolina and M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine. From 1969 to 1971, he served on active duty with the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, with rank of LCDR. He was chief resident in neurology at Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y., and practiced neurology in Nashville from 1975, primarily at Baptist Hospital, until retirement from private practice in 2002. He was a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. He continued to serve as neurology consultant to the Outpatient Diagnostic Center until 2010 and spent two years with the State of Tennessee Disability Determination Section.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at West End United Methodist Church, where Richard was a member. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with inurnment at 1 p.m. at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.

Commander, you are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final departure. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender.
