Charles "Chuck" Smith Jr.

1961 - 2021

Charles ""Chuck"" Smith, Jr., age 60, of Temperance, Michigan passed away on September 26, 2021 at St. Anne Mercy Hospital. He put up the most courageous fight and our Lord decided he had bigger plans for him.
Chuck was born July 26, 1961 to Charles and Vivian (White) Smith. Chuck was married to Annette (Suit) Smith for 26 years. They enjoyed spending time together and running their business C.M. Smith Sand and Stone. Chuck's pride and joy were his children, Kaitlin Smith (Ryan Odom), Charles Smith III, and Jill (Ryan) Farmer. He also deeply loved his grandchildren, Aubrey, Bentley, and Bradley Farmer who knew him as ""Papa Chuck."" He loved all his fur-babies, particularly his dogs, and often would come home with a stray to add to the family. Chuck was a man who truly exemplified the Golden Rule and would do anything for anyone even if it meant giving the shirt off his back. He was known to have many snacks stashed in his truck, his pockets and would share them with others to get them to have a conversation with him. He truly loved to eat. He was a strong supporter of Whiteford Agricultural Schools' functions and community events, such as, 4H (Monroe and Lenawee), Pheasants Forever, Wild Turkey, and Ducks Unlimited. In 2021, he was one of the three supporters in the purchase of Madie Lee's Hog at the Monroe County Fair.

Chuck was one of the best equipment operators around and took great pride in everything he did. He loved all types of excavating and farming equipment, he especially loved his Mack Trucks and helping his brothers with their pulling tractors. You would always know when Chuck would arrive at a gathering as he was there to have fun and was always the life of the party. His liveliness and humor will be missed by many of his friends and family.

He is survived by his inseparable wife, Annette Suit Smith; children, Kaitlin Smith (Ryan Odom), Charles Smith III, and Jill (Ryan) Farmer; mother, Vivian Smith; sister, Denise (Dean) Lennard; brothers, Steve (Kristin Fitch) Smith; Henry (Tammy) Smith; Eric (Jodie Earle) Smith; nephews, Zac, Henry Jr, Ayden and Josh; nieces, Mollie, Natalie, Katie and Sienna; father and mother in-law, Chuck and Janet Suit; sister-in-law, Cheryl Suit; nephews, Tim, Mike; and niece, Casandra. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles Smith; nephew, Tyler Earle; and his grandparents.

Please join us in a celebration of life, honoring Chuck and the wonderful life he led. Visitation will be from 3- 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman), Temperance, MI. Funeral Services will be at 9:00 a.m. for visitation and 11:00 a.m. service, Friday, October 1, 2021, at Whiteford Wesleyan Church, 10285 Sylvania Petersburg Road, Ottawa Lake, MI.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to Madie's Clovers Foundation or Indian Creek Zoo Foundation. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Anne Mercy Hospital and his extended family, the Vicente family, for all their care and attention to Chuck.

Everyone knows Chuck always donated to various charities and this would be his biggest accomplishment.
