Dean H.
Dean H. Putnam, age 88, of Canton, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016, in the Laurels of Canton. He was born June 17, 1928, in Cleveland, OH to the late Cyrus and Mary (Hart) Putnam. Dean was an entrepreneur, inventor, patent holder and founding owner/operator of Magnagard Equipment Manufacturing, Stark Laser Products and Printer Cleaning Specialists. He was a very active volunteer for the MAPS Air Museum where he restored WWII era planes. He was a licensed private pilot and an open wheel race car driver; he built planes, boats and race cars. He was an avid runner, skier and tennis player and he volunteered for the Toledo Ballet, serving as their Business Manager, set builder, and cast member in The Nutcracker. Dean was a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry A. (Schario) Cini-Putnam to whom he was married 29 years; six children and their spouses, Jill and Jack Diamond, Peter Putnam, Kris and Terry Walkerly, Julie Cini, Greg and Lisa Cini, Patty and Jeff Berkebile; 14 grandchildren, Matt, Ben, Autumn, Abby, Taryn, Cody, Jacob, Dylan, Addie, Maddie, Peyton, Sydney, Isabella and Austin; two great-grandchildren, Calley and Gunner; a dear cousin, Nancy Kermode.
A memorial service was held Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Grace United Methodist Church in Canton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at
