Frances McCartney Obituary
On August 5, 2017, we entrusted Frances M. McCartney, wife of the late Robert C. McCartney and mother of nine, to Almighty God. If you knew her—you loved her. In the wink of an eye, you knew you were in the presence of a holy woman. Her deepest identity was rooted in Christ, and everything she did was ordered around Him. No one ever said, "God bless you" more sincerely. When you were with her, your heart would glow.
With our dear dad, Mom lived her dream of marriage and family. She was in her element in her kitchen. Our family table was built extra-long to make room for friends Mom hoped would stop by—and they always did. Her kindness and humility belied her great inner strength and resolve. Together with Dad, they were a great team—65 years of wedded bliss.Mom had an insatiable appetite for poetry, and how she loved to write letters—carefully chosen words of love and encouragement to friends when it was most needed. She also had a huge heart for the underprivileged; she knew their plight from her childhood in the Great Depression. Mom was truly a handmaid of the Lord who devoted her life to loving family, friends and beyond. May she now enjoy her eternal reward with Jesus and all the saints—Amen!Fran's spirit lives on in her children: Karen Trotter (Joe), Bridget Irmen (Pat), Peggy Goetz (Bill), Denny (Karen), Mike (Molly), Rob (Sue), Mary Crown (Brad), Dan (Patti), Todd (Marianne); 43 grandchildren: Chris, Brian, Stephanie, Whitney, Polly, Shayne, Sam, Tad, Nick, Dan, Mike, Matt, Meghan, Mary, Callie, Shannon, Kevin, Tom, Bridget, Dan, Mary Pat, Vince, Pete, Maggie, Riley, Anna, Jessie, Kate, Grace, Nate, Kyle, Annie, Susan, Francie, John, George, Charlie, Henry, Emily, Will, Ben, Caroline, Claire; and 31 great-grandchildren. Preceding Fran in death are her husband, Bob; siblings, Ed Steuer, Cliff Steuer, and Betty Geiser.Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 p.m., where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where the family will greet guests starting at 10:00 a.m. Private interment services will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may take the form of a donation to St. Joan of Arc Church. Please leave a condolence message for the family at

What an absolutely FANTASTIC person, a true LADY. Aunt Fran was the kindest, most caring person I have ever known. A gentle, loving soul, when Aunt Fran greeted you and asked you how you were doing it was obvious that she genuinely meant it. I will NEVER forget the MANY kindnesses Aunt Fran showed me over the years. She went out of her way to do and say the littlest things that meant ever so much. She was more than a ray of sunshine, I have absolutely no doubt she was a messenger from God guiding us in our daily lives. May her soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed rest in eternal peace, God bless you Aunt Fran. All my love always.

O LORD, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in thy mercy grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen.
Dear McCartney family, your mother was a special person. Has there ever lived anyone else whose eyes communicated love and life better?

Our deepest condolences on the loss of Grandma Fran. She was with Grandpa Bob, truly a hand of god and we felt as a part of your family. She will be missed greatly but has gone on to a much greater place.
