James Smith Obituary

James A. Smith

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James A. Smith, who left us on April 2, 2025. Born on October 23, 1942, to the late Charles A. and Lily Smith in Toledo, Ohio. Jim was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend, whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.

Jim was known for riding motorcycles, traveling with his beloved wife, Rose (deceased), and sharing good times with friends and family. After serving four years in the Navy, Jim worked for many years as a Master Mechanic for GM where he was respected and admired by his colleagues. His dedication to his work was matched only by his love for his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Smith-Zakrajsek, (Gary Zakrajsek); son, Jeffrey Smith; grandchildren, Samantha Love, Daniel Zimpelman, Ryley Smith, Megan Smith; great-grandchildren, Oliver Yang and Sawyer Love. Jim cherished the time spent with his family, who were his greatest source of pride and joy.

A visitation will be held on April 11, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 p.m., at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio, 43623. Friends and family are invited to come celebrate the life of a remarkable man who will be deeply missed.

May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
