John Patrick

John Patrick Crowl, 49, passed away March 14, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born July 30, 1965, to John F. and Judith H. Crowl in Dayton, Ohio. A graduate of St. Francis De Sales High School, John was a member of the water polo team and state championship winning swim team before attending Purdue University. J.P. was a locomotive engineer for Norfolk-Southern Railroad and was a member of the BLET. He was an avid Red Wings, Steelers and Purdue Boilermakers fan, enjoyed walleye fishing and especially enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams.

John is survived by his loving wife, Debra Brooks Crowl; children, Courtney M. Crowl, Jonathon T. Crowl, Chloe B. Crowl, Caylen L. Crowl; parents, John and Judith Crowl; sister, Susan (Benny) Delbaggio III; nephews, Nick Delbaggio, Ben Delbaggio IV and Cody (Erica) Brooks.

Friends are invited to visit after 2 p.m. Friday at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where services will commence at 4 p.m. Condolences may be left online for John's family at:

I'm very sorry to hear about the early passing of John. I considered him a very good friend while in high school. I'll remember him most when he was standing on the bow of his boat and keeping his balance in very rough Lake Erie waters; I suppose he got that from his water polo days. God Bless the Crowl family and thanks for the memories John!
I'll hug my five year old a little tighter tonight.
