I'm so sorry for your loss. John was such a sweet man. I met him while working with Mishka at petassage.

John carried himself with ease. Always calm, softspoken, affable. It was easy to like John, to work with him, to count on him. I knew him and Lou first through Metroparks, but we stayed in touch regularly as friends and through their business. John was truly one of the good guys. Condolences to Lou and family. He will be sorely missed.

I first met John in 1981 when I first started working at the Metroparks. At first I thought he belonged on the cover of a Three Dog Night album! I told him that years later and he liked that thought. Over the following years we had worked the walleye run together, and salmon fished with the Maumee cops up in Michigan for several years. The one trip he was afraid of the other guys sabotaging his little tent so he rigged the outside with fishing line and lots of metal objects so he would be warned if anyone tried to get him. It was hillarious. He had a dream of fishing in Canada at Chapleau so myself and the Arnby brothers went with him and we had an incredible time. Many fishing jokes and laughs transpired from that specific trip. I remember photos of John with a wad of cash he had won from a night of left/right/center and other card games, probably 50 bucks or so but he was holding all those one dollar bills like he had won the lotto. The green twister tail story is priceless. If you see John Arnsby ask him about it! So of you may not know but John was somewhat of a football fan, specifically Canada's team the Green Bay Packers. I was a fan of Americas team the Cowboys. He would end me daily facebook jokes about the Cowboys. I surprised him one day and sent him a selfie of me in full Green Bay attire. He was so happy that I finally came around. Although John was successful at everything he did, I was most impressed of him as a family man. He did it right...
