Thomas Loran Obituary

Thomas Marlin Loran Thomas M. Loran, beloved husband, father and grandfather, was born on April 18, 1924 and he went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2008. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Luella, to whom he was married nearly fifty-six years. He is also survived by his daughter Lisa Loran, his son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Nancy Loran, his granddaughter Katie Loran and her husband Mike Nichols, his granddaughter Megan Loran, his grandson Joey Loran, his sister Gloria Matz, and many other dear family members and friends. Tom was an excellent athlete and was an all-city basketball player for Lincoln High School. He served his country by fighting in the South Pacific during World War II, and in recent years by volunteering at the American Lake Veterans Administration golf course. Tom spent most of his career working for the E.I. Dupont Company, and he retired from the Weyerhaeuser Company in 1988. Tom was an active member of Manitou Park Presbyterian Church, where he served in a variety of offices over the years. Tom loved family gatherings, golfing, bowling, fishing, and reading. He was an avid sports fan and followed all of our local teams. He enjoyed seeing friends and reliving glory days at the Old Jocks luncheons. Tom's was a life well lived and he will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW., Lakewood, WA, on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Valley Chapel. If desired, memorial donations to Manitou Park Presbyterian Church, 6613 S. Cheyenne St., Tacoma WA 98409, would be appreciated.

My heart goes out to the Loran family. I never met Thomas, but through the stories from his daughter, Lisa, I know he was a good man and will be deeply missed. My prayers are with you all.

To the Loran Family, we are deeply affected by the loss of Thomas. We have known Lisa for over 16 years, she is a gem to our family and well loved by us and has returned to the Northwest as Gods' Will. We have only brefily met Thomas but know his daughter loved her father very much and is here for her family and us.

We sincerely consider her as immediate family and part of her extended family.

We share deeply in the loss and know that there is a celebration of life in God's plan.
