David Faist, 64, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 5, 2010.
Dave was born on April 4,1946 in Michigan to Austin and Beulah Faist. He was raised in Ventura, where he graduated from Buena High School in 1964.
Dave was in the automotive industry in Ventura, where he successfully owned and operated an automotive repair business for many years before acquiring a Texaco service station. After that he moved to the Northern Sacramento area where he continued in the automotive field, making a very large amount of lifelong friends along the way.
For many who knew Dave his passion for racing was endless. He was best known in the racing community for his 55 Chevy and helping others on their race cars. Not too often in life do you find a "true friend" and to many Dave was that "true friend" and he will be missed dearly by so many.
He is survived by his son Steve Faist of Ventura, daughter Sheri Faist Lewis of New Castle, brother Doug and wife Lois Faist of San Clemente and their two sons Christopher and Cameron Faist.
Memorial service will be held at 11a.m. on Sunday July 11 at OST Trucking Park , 2951 N. Ventura Ave., Ventura. Assisting the family is family owned and operated Perez Family Funeral Home; 805-983-3457. Please visit David's Memorial at www.camarillomortuary.com

It´s hard to believe it´s been 14 years. We were in Hot Rod Power Tour this week. In Bowling Green, so many of Beech Bend Raceway´s scenes reminded us of our great times together at the annual reunions. Your memory is indelible - you are missed to this day.

I remember Dave's smile like it was yesterday. He would come by the machine shop at Montalvo Auto Parts just about daily. Though I hadn't seen him in many years, we'll all miss him.

In the last few years, my friend of 40 years would be our house guest at this time of year, as we attended the National Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green Kentucky. The timing of his passing is painful; the loss irreparable.
So few times in life, one gets a chance just to meet someone as openly friendly and genuinely helpful as Dave. Donna and I are honored to have considered him as family.

I have known Dave for years dating back to when Dave and my brother Rick ran out of Montalvo Speed Shop and Auto Parts with the help and friendship of Bob “Thumbs” Waldren. Dave was always helping others and was just a kick to be around. This time last year Dave and I were at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Ky at the Hot Rod Reunion with my brother Rick, his wife Donna and some good old Tennessee friends that Dave met back there. Just a couple of weeks ago we were having dinner together and doing a bunch of bench racing as we did often on his way home from taking care of his Redding area customers. This was a total shock to me and my brother, we all will miss that big old grin he seemed always to have on his face. You got to believe he’s still smiling down on us all. See ya later pal.

Dave was the type of person we were all lucky to call friend. He was always smiling and never in a bad mood. You never knew where he would show up and he was always ready and willing to help out with any project. We will all miss is smiling face and easy going personality.

Dave took his son Steve and myself to the Drag Races in the third grade with his 55 Chevy. I believe it was a old airport in Santa Maria. When I turned 16 I worked for Dave at Faist Texaco were his 55 Chevy was inspired by all who worked at the station. He put the 411 gears in my car while I was at school. I could not wait that day to "lean it over" as Dave would say. That rear-end prevailed over many 4 speeds that were grenaded.
