Aaron N. Seesan Obituary

When six soldiers in his Stryker Brigade were killed in a suicide bombing, Aaron N. Seesan stood up and volunteered to replace the dead. He reasoned that the only other person of his rank who could go had a wife and kids. Seesan, 25, of Massillon, Ohio, was killed May 22 when a bomb struck the gas tank of the vehicle he was riding in, causing it to burst into flames. He was burned over 80 percent of his body, but remained conscious when medics arrived and directed them to care for other wounded soldiers. Seesan had developed a sudden interest in the Army and World War II history in elementary school. "He literally was playing with dinosaurs one day and the next day had little Army soldiers in his sandbox," said his mother, Chiquita. An altar boy and an Eagle Scout, he played football and ran track in high school and participated in speech and drama. He graduated in 2003 from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., to which he won a congressional appointment. He was based at Fort Lewis. He is also survived by his father, Thomas.

Dear Seesan Family,
My son is currently a Plebe at Kings Point, Class of 2018. Acceptance Day is Aug 9th and as I sought a gift, I purchased what I thought was a USMMA Challenge Coin. It was sobering to learn about your son Aaron and the Honor Coin he designed when he was Regimental Honor Board Chairman.

On behalf of my family, thank you for your sacrifice. In my house, we will never forget.

Seesan Family,

It's been many years since I was in school with Arron. I always called him Seesan and will always remember him as a phenomenal individual and a great friend. On Veteran's day I think of Seesan and give thanks for his sacrifice for my freedom.

Seesan you will never be forgotten. Kick those pearly gates open for me when I head up, I'll bring the beer.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Seesan Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

I still remember and live that day we all lost him among the others. I tattooed his name on the side of my back. I kiss it with the other 3 that are there when I run in their name and honor. He's the one that represented innocence in a soldiers heart. I miss you Aaron and I'm still not ever sorry for the playing that prank on you when you came to unit. LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!

On this the sixth anniversary of Aaron's death, I want the Seesan family to know that others do remember your loss. I know of Aaron through Kirk Stotzer. I work at DFW Airport and one day I saw a car with a USMMA license plate frame and spoke with the driver who went to college with Aaron. He has touched many lives. We do Aaron honor by exhibiting the quality character he lived by. He is an example of how to live.

I lived next door to Aaron our whole First Class year at the Academy. He was an awesome friend, very dependable, very compassionate, and most importantly he embodied the word "integrity" like no one else I've ever met. If the Academy motto "Acta Non Verba" was ever meant for someone, Aaron was the guy...

I will never forget him. Especially the day we all got commissioned and we were able to finally joke that he was truly an "Army of One"... as the only person to take the Army option out of Kings Point...

While we were Midshipmen he once came over next door to share a care package his mom sent him which contained "Zucchini Bread" and to this day my family enjoys this recipe and I think of him whenever we make it... Zucchini Bread has become a special meaning for me.

Aaron, I will miss our times sitting out on the Academy lawn watching the sunset over the sound and enjoying a cigar together. You are a true friend.

Please know that just as your loved one will remain in your hearts and minds, his sacrifice and that of your family, will remain with the people he died defending. Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Seesan,

I did not know Aaron, bult like him served as Regimental Honor Board Chairman at KP, and also decided to enter the service on active duty upon graduation. He was no doubt a person of honor and integity as is evident in the postings of his troops above. As a new father myself I cannot imagine your grief or sense of loss but offer my most heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all your son has done to keep us safe. Arron exemplifies the Academy's motto "Acta non Verba" - Deeds not Words.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Seesan,

I was deeply saddened to hear of Aaron's passing. Despite the fact that I was 1 yr ahead of Aaron, I had the pleasure of knowing him. I will always remember him as a very kind, sweet, and caring individual who was literally an Army of One when he graduated from KP. Your son was a hero protecting this great nation of ours who always thought of others before himself. I know I speak on behalf of the whole KP family when I say that he will be sorely missed, but will forever remain in our hearts. May God be with you and your family during this trying time.

I never served under LT Seesan personally, however we did meet a few times. All my fellow soldiers that served under him have only good things to say, and I agree. The few times I met him he was friendly, and willing to learn about my job so he didn't need to come back for help (I am communications). I am now serving in a former company he was in, and those who knew him are heartbroken at his death. I wish the best to a family who lost such a fine leader, as they are hard to come by. I am gladly taking my second turn in Iraq, and as we prepare for war we remember those lost. But please give more credit to our families than us, as the stronger soldier is my wife. She didn't sign up for this, and yet she suffers more than I do, for she does NOT know what is going on while I am gone.

Dear Seesan family-

Although I do not know your family personally, I felt that I needed to tell you that you have all been in my thoughts and prayers since reading about your tragic loss. It sounds like your son was a wonderful young man and you should be very proud of having raised such a wonderful human being. I have a 1yr old son and although he is too young to understand this tragic loss, I plan on keeping the newspaper articles on your son and the other local heroes who have tragically passed away to show him when he is older so he can understand why he has the opportunity to live in such a free and wonderful country and truly appreciate all of the freedoms he has. I want him to know that it is only because of very special people like your wonderful son that he has all of the opportunities that life can afford him. Thank you so much for raising such a wonderful young man. Please know that your are in my thoughts and prayers and I am forever thankful to your son for defending our freedom. Please know that your son and his sacrifice will NEVER be forgotten. May God Bless you and your family and give you the strength to get through this very difficult time.

My son called me yesterday and told me about Aaron. With tears in my eyes I went to retrive the yearbook, Class of 2003 United States Merchant Marine Academy. As I opened it up and found Aarons Photo, with his family and saw he was in 4th Company. I knew then, what HE was all about. Only the best of the best. I took the book and copied Aarons page, for we shall honor him and his family with the utmost respect. Now he will stay up on my mantle, along with the flag he fought for. So everyone that comes to my home will know about Aaron. With my deepest sympathy and prayers I send to you and your family.
