Jim was a friend and epitomized what it is to be an Optimist. He was always cheerful and dedicated, and added an extra "spark" to district meetings. Farewell and God Bless, Jim.

Jim epitomized the ideal for Optimists: he worked tirelessly and happily for young people and his community, but he sought no recognition or praise - just knowing he was contributing was enough for him. We admired too his example as he fought his disease with dignity and grit. He is truly our Optimist of the Year, and beyond. See you later, Jim!

As a true Optimist, Jim spent many hours on projects devoted to "bringing out the best in kids." It didn't matter whose program it was, if it was to be done and required time, effort and money, Jim was there. We have lost a true labourer in the vineyard. It is not only our loss, but that of the children of our world.

Jim was so brillant and sweet. I was so lucky to have been one of the many people he cared about. I value the friendship we had and will miss him dearly.

Always willing hands to help and a smile and good spirits at all times are part of the memory Jim leaves us. In a greater sense the legacy of the kids he helped aspire to great things as they stood up to the challenge and gave their oratory in the Optimist Oratorical Contests or signed their thoughts and words in the Communications Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CCDHH). All were better for the chance they got through his efforts as a key team member to provide the work to organize and emceed the venue for their efforts. Over the years, think of the difference he helped make in so many young lives. Thanks Jim.
Sadly, I will be out of town this coming weekend but Jim will be there too in my thoughts.

I knew Jim for such a short time, but that was long enough for him to make an everlasting impression of a true optimist that I will always remember.

Jim Argodale was an Optimist in every sense of the word and made our Optimist Creed a living document. He was always there when he was needed. He will be remembered for his outstanding service to the Optimist organization and the youth of his community. He was a special friend to my daughter Cindy and me and we mourn his passing.
