Timothy Brien Obituary
Tim served in the U.S. Navy from 1977-1981, then moved on to his career of being a Fire Fighter and EMS Director for the City of Woonsocket, 1984-2007. Tim received his Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island and pursued his passion of being an Athletic Trainor at Brown University, then becoming the First Strength and Conditioning Coach for both Bryant University and Franklin Pierce University. Upon his retirement from his Coaching, he relocated to Florida to keep his amazing tan going with his family.
Tim had an incredible passion for Weightlifting and Powerlifting his entire life, holding one of the current records for being The Strongest Man in New England. Tim loved sharing his knowledge and passion with others and was an incredible mentor to all the athletes he coached and trained throughout his life.
Tim was a man of service in just about everything he did, Family Man, Military, Coaching, Teaching, Fireman and Medic, so caring of everyone who crossed his path. He did everything with a gentle heart, true dedication, and compassion. He held an admiration by many and often in the background observing. He always cherished his friends of longevity, the support that has been throughout his entire life. For those that were blessed enough to know him and feel how special a guy he truly was, they will always hold his presence in their hearts.
Tim is survived by his two daughters, Tarah Castiglioni and her husband Brian of Jaffrey, NH, Jamie Germain and her husband Jeffrey of Lakewood Ranch, FL, his three beautiful grandchildren Scarlett, Dax and Gia who will always remember having the most amazing Pep in the world. Tims grandchildren were his world, and he adored and loved them to no end. Also survived by his brother Tommy Brien and his wife Cathy, his sister Julie Brien, sister-in-law Debbie Brien and several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memories of camping, coaching, and hiking. Tim was predeceased by his brother the late Robert G. "Bobby" Brien.

Diane, Tarah, and Jamie,
We are deeply saddened by Tim´s passing.
He was a good friend to me and a great mentor to so many of the young men in Woonsocket. He always had that huge smile and an uplifting word. Some of my happiest moments were spent training, competing, or coaching with him at the Power Shack. Knowing him made me a better man. Whether for coaching the Woonsocket power lifting team or organizing the truck pull for Special Olympics he will be remembered fondly by the many friends he has left behind.
I know he will be waiting at the gates for me when my time here is over.

Apologize for being away the past week and missing the services. To the family and friends of this kind-hearted man, please accept my most sincere condolences. My heartfelt condolences go out to your entire family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. In one of my favorite James Taylor songs he wrote "the secret to life is enjoying the passage of time." I believe Tim knew the secret and lived it with gusto. God bless him and all of you. I will always remember him as a nice guy.
