Grace R. Holtzapple

RED LION Grace R. (Keller) Holtzapple, 95, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Manor Care South. She was the wife of the late Harris F. Holtzapple. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church, 1155 Felton Road, Red Lion, with her pastor, the Rev. James C. House officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church. Burial will be held in Red Lion Zion U.M. Cemetery. Born October 12, 1914, in Red Lion a daughter of the late Wesley L. and Elizabeth (Strayer) Keller, she was a 1939 graduate of Red Lion High School and then attended Thompson's Business School. Mrs. Holtzapple had worked for Guy Hobbs in Dallastown; Dallastown Box Factory; Brogue Cigar Factory; and then retired after 25 years, along with her late husband Harris, operating the former Windsor Cut Rate Drug Store. Mrs. Holtzapple was a member of Zion U.M.C. and its Ever Faithful Class, United Methodist Women, and had served as a teacher and Superintendent of the Sunday School; Dallastown Golden Age Group; and Dallastown American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She had also volunteered with Red Lion Mobile Foods for many years. Mrs. Holtzapple is survived by three daughters, Joan M. and husband, Terry Frey and Loretta L. Stump, both of Red Lion, and Barbara E. and husband Martin Hake of Dallastown; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carrie Kraft of Pasadena, Md. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kevin Stump and Alana Frey Brown; three brothers; and three sisters.
