Geraldine Jacques Obituary

Geraldine Ford Jacques

Palm Coast , FL - Geraldine Ford Jacques of Palm Coast, Fla, died peacefully in her home on January 7, 2024 after a brief decline in her health at the age of 93.

Gerry was born in Concord, N.H. November 27, 1930 to Kenneth and Jean (Hokenson) Ford. She was raised in West Concord along with her four siblings and graduated from Concord High School, class of 1948. She also attended Boston University after graduation.

In 1951 she married Albert Jacques, they were married for 58 years until Albert's death in 2011. They moved several times before settling in Keene, NH to raise their family. In her career she worked for Gulf Oil, was secretary to the mayor of Concord and her longest career before retiring was with the IRS as a Taxpayer Service Rep in the Keene office.

Gerry and Al found Newfound Lake, NH in the 50's and eventually purchased Mocha Cottages in Bridgewater. It was here they hosted family and friends, volunteered and spent every summer weekend with their grandchildren as they were growing up. She would be seen walking Rt 3A to Newfound Grocery every morning for her coffee. In 2005 they moved to Florida finding Palm Coast suited them best.

Gerry was known to have pretty much all the attributes that allowed her to live a long and engaged life. Never stopped learning, loved to be socially active, volunteered, was always fashionably dressed, the host of many occasions (Gerry was a wonderful cook), fun, funny, inquisitive and resilient to name a few. She stayed active playing golf well in to her 80's. Most of all she loved her family and had many friends new and old whom she kept in touch with. Gerry was very proud of her Swedish heritage and had the opportunity to visit Sweden in 2000.

IN HER LIFE: Geraldine is survived by her beloved daughter Cynthia Willett and husband David of Florida, son Michael W. Jacques and wife Deborah of New Hampshire; and grandsons Ian Jacques of Gilsum and Peter Jacques and wife Natalia of Rhode Island. Her brothers Ron Ford and wife Beverly, Doug Ford and wife Gail, sister Joyce Foley and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Albert; son Steven; sister Barbara Ford and brother-in-Law Paul Foley.

Memorial Services will be held in the spring at West Congregational Church in Concord and internment will be at the NH State Veteran's Cemetery.

My Dear Cindy & Mike,

It is with a very heavy heart, and deep sadness that I just read of your wonderful mother Gerry's passing in the Concord Monitor online.

Your dear Grandmother Lottie was my mother Lorraine's best friend,
and she was a very special part of our family, she will always be my
Aunt Lottie. Lottie worked with my mother at the Mica Depot in Franklin
when my mother was pregnant with me, so I have known Lottie for my
entire life. I have so many precious memories of her, and my many visits
to her apartment at Wyatt Court, of the grape juice and vanilla ice cream
floats she made for me.

A lifetime has passed since I have seen you, and Steve, and your
beloved mother and father at Newfound Lake. I am so sorry about Steve's passing. When your father Albert died, I wrote an entry in his guestbook,
and your dear Mother wrote me the most beautiful response, remembering
me from my childhood visits to your home at the lake so long ago.

A week ago I watched a video of the 50th Anniversary of the filming of the
Sound of Music in Austria and I was remembering seeing it with you and
my sisters Brenda and Pamela when your grandmother Lottie brought us to
the Colonial Theater in Laconia in 1965. She really loved the Sound of Music.

The saddest day of my life will always be December 29th, 1999, the day that
my mother Lorraine made her journey to Heaven. We were both blessed with wonderful mothers who love us unconditionally. I know the deep sense of loss, and grief that you are feeling. In time you will see subtle signs
that your mother is still with you, still watching over you with her same unconditional love. I see signs every day that my mother is near. I feel her
love always.

Your dear father Albert, and Steve, and Lottie, and Ruth & Uncle Wen, and Albert & Grace, and Bev and Wes, and her sister Barbara, and her mother
and father were waiting for her at Heaven's gate with their loving arms extended to hug her and welcome her home.

My thoughts and my prayers are with you, and with all of Gerry's loved ones
at this very sad time. She will live on in your hearts, and in the hearts of all
of those who were blessed to know her, and to love her, forever.
May of all the remaining days of your lives be filled with peace & happiness,
good health, and many blessings.
love always,
Jeff Bonk
