Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know David, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Joanne, John, and family-
I woke up this morning thinking of David and our heroes of the 1088th. I think the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus at Easter has me thinking more and more about when I will meet David one day and finally give a hug to this fine young man. I want to let you know how much I appreciated David being such a good friend to my son, Sgt. John Aaron Blanchard. Aaron spoke to me about "his boy" David and their time together in Iraq, and I know that both of them shared a deep faith for the Lord and they prayed together. Aaron was so severely injured that day that his death certificate was processed by the Army, as they didn't think he would make it to Germany. I found out that you knew about David long before we ever knew Aaron was (finally) stable in the hospital in Germany. What I do know is that David and the others that went before him in the 1088th were Aaron's Angels. He got out of the hospital in December, months ahead of time, and his bones knitted in record-breaking time according to the amazed doctors at Walter Reid AMC in Washington, D.C. Although his PTSD has been something to deal with, he has been healing nicely. We will never forget David and his courage. He is a hero that stands out among heroes and a gentle soul that thought of others before himself. Your sacrifice has brought comfort to many who believe in the validity of this war. I thank you and John and when I get to Louisiana in May, hope to meet with you. I think it would do Aaron a world of good to meet you guys, too. During this Easter holiday, I look to the sky and ask the Lord to take care of our hero, David. A friend that will forever live in the hearts of the 1088th and be appreciated by mothers, wives, and families of those he served alongside. Take care, my friend Joanne. You have an angel in Heaven that loves you and a friend that prays for your comfort in this life.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

My deepest condolences to you and all the loves ones and friends of Sgt. David J. Murray. My heart aches for you, and you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that the deep hurt you feel can be in some part be eased by the feeling of great pride for David’s valor and deep sense of patriotism. He will always be remembered as an American Hero by my family.
Engine 54 is the firehouse that suffered the most losses on 9-11-01. In spite of all that has happened here, 13 million people continue to live and work in this city without fear, because of our awesome U.S. Military. We still stand tall and proud here today, thanks to wonderful people such as your David.
To David I would say you have made the ultimate sacrifice and did so willingly and without hesitation. Thank you so very much for defending my freedoms. It means so much to me, to the people of NYC and to the entire nation. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice in the service of the country that I love so very much.

An Irish Funeral Prayer
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.
"Before I lay me down to sleep...And fall into a slumber deep...Hear this little prayer of mine...Hope it gets to you in time...Bless those on land and sea and air...Who fight for freedom here and there...Send special blessings from above...Protect them with your shield of love...Return them safely, we humbly pray...To the Land of the Free...And the Home of the Brave..."

For the Sgt Murray family.
I start to write this and realize that it's so easy to just block my feelings and not acknowledge how special David must have been and why I am writing this. With it being this hard for me I know I can't fathom the pain you must be feeling. No words can take that away. I guess what I feel would help at least some is the knowledge that people do care and that this brave man would not be forgotten and that the sacrifice he and you have made will not be taken for granted. He will not be forgotten, and what he has done to protect our homeland and freedoms is appreciated and remembered. A member of our Group Eagles Wings sent a wonderful article and tribute to David. Wow. What a great man, and a great loss.

It is very hard to understand how we are supposed to feel pride and saddness at the same time. I only knew Ted for a short time (while working at EFSO), but he was an example for all other young men. His dedication and work ethic were exemplary, and I would dare anyone to find a more kind-hearted person than Ted. I am so proud of him and the tasks/goals that he accomplished in his short life! To:David's Family
I got to know David while in the LSU Law enforcement Training Program to achieve P.O.S.T(Police officer's Standard Training) certification. We trained together from June 9,2003 to August 29, 2003, at which time we graduated from the academy. It is ironic that we were the first class to graduate from the facility after the program moved to Carville, Louisiana. David was a very professional and proficient person. He excelled in physical fitness. He ran the extra three miles after physical training in the mornings and when others were leaving for the day, he stayed and ran an extra three miles in the sweltering heat. He exhibited all the qualities of a good law enforcement officer. The family have my prayers during this period of bereavment.

To Ted's family and friends,
Your son is a hero and we will never forget his sacrifice. He has fought the good fight, and may his bravery and valor bring you comfort. He is now joined with his brothers-in-arms of the 1088, our son Jonathan Reed, Christopher Ramsey, and Michael Evans who died very bravely on January 28, 2005, also fighting to protect the freedom of America.

May God bless you and give you comfort in your time of grief for your dear David. We are humbly grateful and mourn for this young life sacrificed in service to his country and to his fellow man. I have no words to comfort grief that is unimaginable to me - our son is also 23 and entering the service this year. Our family prays for comfort for those who love David, and peace forever in God's care for David.
