GOTHARD, Grady L., 74, of Richmond, retired from Reynolds Metals, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his loving family January 26, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Gothard; two daughters, Carol Gothard of Richmond and Janice Gibbs and her husband, Dennis, of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Sara Greenberg and Jason and Morgan Gibbs; two sisters-in-law, Betty Olsen and Ann Burson; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Binion and wife, Reba, and Jerry Binion and wife, Terri; six nieces, Ann and Barbara Perry, Joan Woods, Linda Allen, Margie Costello and Shanna Binion; eight nephews, Bill and Jim Perry, Mark and Craig Woodward, Marty and Sam Burson and Chris and Gabe Binion; and longtime friend, Ken Greenberg. Grady was a loving husband, devoted father, beloved grandfather, and will be missed by all of those whose lives he touched. Mr. Gothard was a graduate of Georgia Tech, a U.S. Naval Aviator, avid fisherman and an accomplished craftsman. The family will receive visitors Friday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Derbyshire Baptist Church. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and condolences may be made at mem.com.
